Discussion thread for the next democractic civ2 game when we finish this one!
Who wants to be automatic members to be in that game then!
Are we to start the next game straight after this game ends!
Are we to start with the same format in the next game as this game!

shouldn't we just go with the member list from last time?
i vote for starting the next game on the first 1st of the month after we take over the world
and i vote for keeping the format the same
we did it once...(though before my time here)...why do it again? it works well enough..

Well, some people might not want to join the game, but I like your idea on starting, but when do want to join the next game!

I am enjoying the first game and would like to be involved in another.
I think we could organize elections and things so the president could start playing from the start of the month after this game is complete

Count me in. I think our basic format has worked extremely well, though I suggest we take a look at the Civ3 version for ideas.
The idea of occasional scheduled "turnchats" -- perhaps just prior to the President's weekly play session -- seems like it might enhance the experience a bit.
Any other thoughts out there?

let's play a scenario this time instead...and maybe NOT take ideas from the civ3 game, half of them are stupid

YES! Put me in, James.
Perhaps we need to start off with whether we go for a scenario or not, and if not, what the start conditions will be, and go from there.
We could ask for suggestions on how to improve the game, and once we have polled on any ideas, then let the game begin!
I second -Jrabbit's turnchat idea - not as necessary as in the Civ3 game, but I like it. Many of the Civ3 game's other ideas haven't been so hot, and they are only now getting into the game. It was sheer chaos there for a while, and almost everyone is polarized between two political parties, and they are actually voting as a Party bloc for candidates put forward by the parties! Yeesh! I like the fact our parties are either just random collections of ppl with similar views (something to put in your sig), or a way of having fun.
By all means everyone look at the Civ3 game and see how it's going, but remember the shortfalls - especially the fact they have at least 7 or 8 topped threads!

I like the turn chat idea, too.
As for game parameters, a scenario would be good. Or a large map. Remember, we started this one on a normal map just because it was our trial effort. I worked, we crush the AI. Bigger map means the AI can actually grow a bit before we punish it.
What scenario would we want to play?
I think the only important thing is to hold a few polls or chats about what the parameters should be. It might also be interesting to actually have some long term plan to follow. This time we just reacted to the situations as they arose. Saying that we intend to accomplish this or that 40 turns ahead of time might make for interesting play.
I much prefer our chaotic political party system - no block voting, just "organized" for fun.

I'll be there. Maybe make that comeback in Apolyton politics, too.

I will defenitely participate. I second the idea of using a scenario. Perhaps something like Rome, or maybe Apocalypse?

I vote for keeping it the same as this game. But if we did do a scenario, I wonder how a World War II scenario would play...

i don't think a scenario would be as much fun, but maybe using a modpack with different/more units techs would be fun...

It might be very interesting if the President announced exactly when he was playing so that interested Citizens could be available in ICQ (or something) and things could be discussed between Presidential turns. I know there were times where I would have liked to ask questions during game play.

Yes, but some participation is better than nothing. And the President might be able to vary playing time to allow different Citizens to participate each week.
