Think that's bad?
I'm from the US and don't know who that is.

Ashcroft would be astounded at his low face recognition.
Is it really that small? I can't tell on my large screen.

Well, for those who don't watch The Late Show, that's home security czar John Ashcroft. Ashcroft wrote a song with the lines, "Let the eeeaaagle soooaaaar/Like she's never soooaaaared before" and sang it at a press conference.
The clip made humor of the day spots on various news outlets. Letterman started showing the clip and inviting/challenging Ashcroft to appear on The Late Show and sing the song again. Ashcroft came on the show but chickened out on the singing part.
