Hey there!
Civilization II was and is one of the best games around. Sure, it has some problems (what program doesn't?) and some really strange AI oddities, but even with all the new eye candy rich and strong AI games around (MODded CTP/CTP2 are my favorities) I will still pop in Civilization II and find myself hooked into it all over again.

It's a wonderful game, and a good substitute for crack or heroin or any other addictive substance. Tho it does cause some marital strife...
just one more turn...

One more turn.
I think that phrase pretty well sums it up. But i have it a little different. I think i can count on two hands the number of Civ2 games i actually completed . What happens is i usually end up saying "Hey! I didn't try such and such scenario in Civ2 basic (or playing as one tribe or another in Civ2 ToT). I'll start up a game, play a few turns and finish this off after." Then, i get the "just-one-more-turn-itis". When i finally shake it off, well, i forgot where i was at in the other game, and where i was going, so i just drop it since, coincidentally, i'm very much into the new game - until i realise that i never played as any of the Alien races in the Sci-Fi game of ToT (which is true. Hmmmm....) There is jsut so many possibilities, plus getting user-made scens.... gosh , i don't think i'll [u]ever[/i] finish a game again! (Not! )

One More Turn....i have lost too many girlfriends b/c of this game....and i am not about to change that any time soon.....
as far as i am concerned, girls come and go, but civ is for life....
never has another series of games been so detrimental to my existence
the civ series is the only game to grab me for such a long period of time...about 11+ years now

My sons play a little as well but I don't call them civ players as they don't suffer from "just one more turn" syndrome.

I like Civ2 alot and played it for a long time, but I personally like Civ3 more. That is when you have changed the corruption so it is not so absurdly crippling as it is usual. Though the scenarios are much more fun than in Civ3, and thats probably whats keeping Civ2 alive its endless replayabilitie.

Here I thought there was no such thing as a stupid question…
"btw can one OD on Civ2???" says Shade, the guy who has spent 8+ months at a first attempt to set a forum high score record. Yet another stupid question.
Sweating and sleep-deprived in my broken-air-conditioner apt… just one more turn…

Civilization II is a fantastic game which makes all my problems with computers crashing, hard drives burning, and files self-erasing seem worthwhile.

How come I didn't give my opinion earlier
CIV2 is definitely the best ever
I've been playing it for 6 years and I am hung to it as if it was the 1st day
It must be better than love then

I have about 2 dozen computer games. 2 of which are Civ2 and ToT. I doubt I've played any of the others more than a dozen times.
Why did I buy (or *cough*acquire*cough*) those other games? I was looking for something as playable, as addictive, and as subtle as Civ2 (and variants thereon) are.
NO luck so far
But the bright side is, I play a game of Civ or ToT every week, or so... for the last 4 years...

I've been ripped off on so much game software it's ridiculous. But I still play Civ 2, even though I play SMAC more. I love em both.
