WHAT THE %!&#???
What the hell does it mean?
Who said that? ON what occassion? Why?
I have a feeling it's from the old Civilization Newspaper (remember that thing? ) but where is the "- Civilization Newspaper" line?

It's not from there. And Siro, you've obviously never worked with a UNIX/Linux machine. If you have, you should know that the default quote file for the fortune program is HUGE, and it's nearly impossible to review all the quotes - and Markos didn't do it, either. He left many and many as is, adding some provided by us.

Markos needs to delete some of these strange quotes- some of them are quite bad... How about we list them all in this thread?
It would help him

Is there anyway to find a source for these quotes?
I get that one by Brooke Shields. I'm curious when she said such a silly thing.

This must be the strangest one yet:
"Help a swallow land at Capistrano"
... At least the Star Trek quotes are gone

and then, while replying, I got this one:
"The heaviest object in the world is the body of the woman you have ceased
to love.
-- Marq"
It makes some sense, but it's a useless quote: we need more Apoly quotes! or Philosophical Quotes!
I don't care if they repeat!

I think I have found the Ultimate Quote:
"Okay., Fine"
That one takes the cake
It's not as funny as 1 bulls, 3 cows- but it has to be the WORST quote in the database

What exactly does this one mean?
In the midst of one of the wildest parties he'd ever been to, the young man
noticed a very prim and pretty girl sitting quietly apart from the rest of
the revelers. Approaching her, he introduced himself and, after some quiet
conversation, said, "I'm afraid you and I don't really fit in with this
jaded group. Why don't I take you home?""
"Fine," said the girl, smiling up at him demurely. "Where do you live?"

iF not here's one of my all time faves: (heavily paraphrased)
one of the primary causes for the fall of the Roman Empire, was that, lacking zero, they had no way to indicate successful termination of their C programs

Anyway, coupled with some of Eco's hilarious rantings about computers, it's pretty funny. But now I can't find the eco quote either. Argh.

Eco was an Italian semiotician, he also wrote the books "Foucault's pendulum" and "The name of the rose", you may have heard of them.
If you do a Google search on him, you'll probably find a lot more information on him.

Okay, thanks
I think I've heard of the first book- and now I remember where I saw him- I think I saw a sculptural bust of him in Rome

"Blessed are they who Go Around in Circles, for they Shall be Known as Wheels."
That's not how it goes!
It's: "Blessed are those who Walk in Circles, for they Shall be Known as Rotarians."
