As a little insight into the minds of my fellow Civ Fanatics, i was wondering if any of you 'chaps' (oh, its so great being english - i'll be signing my messages with 'tally-ho' next) would mind telling me what other games you like playing when you're not conquering the world.
To start off. here is a list of some other games that i play

X-Com Apocalpyse
M1 Tank Platoon II
Stronghold
Age of Empires II

I don't have time for other games... But on occasion I'll play some Madden Football, or RPGs (ie forgotten realms). I also like real life games, you know... the kind that require fresh air and leaving the computer...

Hmmm... A lot of people seem to be playing Max Payne. Is it really good? I ask it because I generally don't like FPS, I only play RTCW because of its nostalgic value (to me, at least), and never liked Quake and its cohorts.
BTW, this thread will soon be moved.

Max Payne coz of the storyline: there's actually a good reason why Max goes around killing everyone, albeit a cliched reason.
If this thread does get moved to the OT, does that mean our thread count will go down?

That not the only place then ...
There's also essentially the same thread in this forum:

Shouldn't everyone be putting [+1 pc] at the end of all their posts in this thread?
The mods never come here, though, do they?

Pfft. Max Payne has no replay - Zero. People are probably just adding it cause they've played it before, I doubt that anyone would actually play that game on a regular basis.
As I said in the other thread which has the same topic, the only games that I am consistantly playing these days is Space Empires IV (PBEM), EU2, and Neverwinte Nights. (actually, I'm not really playing NWN a whole lot at the moment - I'm waiting for ALFA to get going, and a multiplayer game that I'm going to start with a group of people next week.)

Dope Wars on my Palm is the only game I play these days. I've lost the stomach for computer games, it would seem.
What can you all recommend that might restore my faith. I have not played any games that are newer than Starcraft.

Played in recent time/will play after Civ3
Medal of Honor
Baldurs Gate 2
Railroad Tycoon 2
Age Of Empires/Kings
I actually prefer to go MB on the time that I am not glued on the screen with "one more turn syndrome"
Sometimes I wish I was back in High School or College or something so instead of working I could play all these interesting games!
Anyway, can somebody tell me how good Neverwinter Nights and Morrowind is?! As an RPG fan I am very interested in them (I would have to buy a new PC though).

a lot of people don't like Nwn for some reason.
I enjoy it. I think their expectations were too high. It's a good game, but needs work. But when I say it needs work, it is reasonable to expect it can be done (unlike civ3 which needs work that won't be done).
graphics cards problems. No prob if you have a geoforce
the original campaign is a little plain, but the good thing is of course you can find many more even only weeks after the game is released.
a few rules adaptions seems hokey. A lot of people complaining about henchman rules, monster summoning durations etc.

Morrowind looks good too. I'm not sure I'll get into the RPG model as much. I admit I usually prefer D & D style.
But the graphics are awesome and you can swim!. The world is freakin' huge. The plot seems solid enough (at least better than dungeion siege and pool of radiance 2).
I would like to play it after I'm done with NWN. Hopefully I can find it a little cheaper in the future. I'm not sure how long it takes for prices to drop on a game.
I have only played a few minutes on my brother's computer.

Dark Age of Camelot... the only game I've really played for the last six months.
I haven't played a real computer game for over a month though

It makes good improvements on the first, and plays pretty much the same way - so if you liked the first, you'll probably like the second.
The most prominent changes are: - A better combat engine.
- More buildings and cunstruction options in towns.
- Ability to found new towns.
- You start with a "wizard" instead of a hero - basically, the wizard acts as the source of all your spells and power, but is relatively weak and does not gain levels.
- "Wizard domains" ie. the area of the world map that a wizard can have influence over.
- The different races have been cleaned up a bit, but not any really drastic changes.
- More spells, and the ability to research new traits for your wizard. (ie. better spell casting, more income, quicker research, ect...)
