If my mum had not given me such a good education, I certainly would have enjoyed some slave trading with the kind of girls you sent us .

something odd that happened to my girlfriend while playing civ on a large random map king level roving bands barbs.....
she popped a hut at 3500 BC and voila , capital with a palace........now i have seen the first city come from a hut before, but not until AFTER 1500 BC and this was deity.....
of course her capital sucked.....16 of the squares were plains, plus one corn, one fish, two more ocean, and one hill......

There has been discussion on this before. A few people have experienced it, while most (including myself) have never seen it. I played many "no city challanges" and never had this occur. Based on what people have said, it seems to more likely with settings less than deity and less than raging hoards. (and since I always play deity/raging, that might explain why I haven't seen it before)

Thanks Xin, I didn't realize there were more games in that series. I liked the first one enough, that I might check out the later ones.

Rah, did you play 'Uncharted water' or 'New horizon'? The latter is a sequel of the former (i.e., Uncharted is koukai1 and new horizon is koukai2). If you haven't played New Horizon, I can give you the link to download it.

Something for you to recall what you have played: Uncharted Warter (koukai1) has only 1 hero, a Portugees who finally earned Dukedum from his king. koukai2 has 6 characters from 6 different countries (the hero of koukai1 is now the father of one of them).

SG[1]: you are welcome. Remember it is a DOS game and you should play it under DOS environment. Unzip the file and run KOEI.COM.

It must have been uncharted waters. NES version.
Yes, if I can find the time, a link would be appreciated.
Post or PM me.

But with having a teenage daughter that lives to PC chat, my accessability to the PC at home has been drastically reduced. (I do however believe that she's going overboard using it to try to sucker me into adding an additional cable connection to the PC in her bedroom)
A test of wills. (yes, she's a chip off the ole block)

It happened to me!
AHA! So a capital can be bribed! Only one catch, this was my latest OCC and I played to see if I could survive after reaching Alpha Centauri. In 2033 the Babylonians caused the citizens of Rome to revolt (I had captured 2 cities from the Egyptians, lost one to the Babs, then destroyed it taking out some 6+ defenders).
As you can see from the saves (2.42), in 2032 my Palace is intact yet the Babs cause my ungrateful citizens to revolt.

Oh, the humanity!
I did hate to see this (edit—had to change width to be allowed):

I think there is a patch and they claimed that it was fixed. Have you installed any patches?

I dunno… last time I downloaded a patch for Civ2 was years ago (the 2.42 patch). I hadn't heard anything past that. The zip has 2032 save, 2033 save, and the picture. d/l and load 2032 to play it on your version; see if you get the same result.

Well - seeing is believing - a capital can be bribed by the AI!!!
Now make it happen before 2020 or whatever date the game normally ends ...
I'm running 2.42
