Pre-Elections Thread Mk II
Indeed. It's that time again (boy did that month go quick or what?).
I'll basically repeat what I said in the first thread:
This thread is designed as a guidline for the elections.
First off, each thread will contain a poll for each of the listed canidates in this thread. If you want to run for a position then post your canidacy here in this thread along with what office you wish to run for.
Second, each canidate is strongly urged to give a quick summary of his position on various important issues in the election thread for his particular office (not inviting a debate however... no "unlike so and so I believe such and such" etc.). This will allow the voter a quick view of what each canidate supports. These threads will not be the places for debate. If you want to debate, then link to the campaign threads and beat the other guy around all you want there. Do not do it in the election threads.
I will also include a list of each election thread at the bottom once the threads have been posted, so it's easier to find.
Lastly, good luck to all canidates! I encourage all members to vote in every election. The future of our civilization is at hand.
The elections will begin on Friday, July 12th. They will end on Tuesday July 16th, when the new (or reelected) officials will gain their positions.
Canidates:
President:
Trip (UFC)
Ninot (DIA)
Vice-President:
Timeline (DIA)
Apocalypse (IND)
Minister of Science:
EmperorMagnus (UFC)
civman2000 (DIA)

Aha! Well, we all know that Trip must once again be our president, but perhaps I can get in at a smaller political post...

oh, my views, of course.
If elected I shall work closely with ambassadors to keep everyone 100% up to date on our situation.
Sn00py, I respect you and so I wont run a campaign against you. I will run one for me.
As required, I will consult the appropriate minister when making trades. Whether or not you agree with the party I am proudly in, UFC, party politics can only influence my decisions so much. I wholly respect the DIA, and will listen to everyone.
As for other civilizations, I think we should have ambassadors appointed to them. At the moment they cant do that much, but in the long term they will be very helpful and useful. Early on in the game we need to decide our stance with other nations. We should nurture friendships with certain countries, rule vassals with an iron fist from the start, and keep track of our enemies. I dont believe in kissing @ss, but gifts to our allies should be a regular expense. They will pay themselves back twice-fold should we enter a war.
Again, good luck to you, Sn00p-dog

I'd rather have (IND) for independent in place of just the (I). I know in US politics the Indies just have an "I," but the Republicans and the Democrats just have one letter two. Since this is also a two party system with the UFC and the DIA, Indies should have IND for continuity.
Also, IND was the letter abbreviation that TV guides give independent stations.

It isn't whining. It is a simple suggestion.

Wait a minute-- why is there an imperial expansion position? Isn't that a political stance? Isn't imperial expansion accomplished by people wanting to expand in office?
I wasn't around at the construction, but I'd just say that looks very much like "minister of gun ownership" or "minister of abortion" (tee hee).

Epistax :
There is a consensus we don't want to play a One City Challenge (OCC), thus the empire will expand, as it has expanded (foundation of Banana HQ and Termina). The minister of Imperial Expansion is simply in charge of placing new cities.
Trip :
Please correct the candidates for historian. Tassadar and History Guy don't compete with each other anymore, but will work together. Please fix this in this thread, to make sure no errors will be made hen you'll create the election poll. Thx

Oh ok I was thinking of a different meaning of imperial I suppose. One City Challenge? Yow. When I think imperial, that includes military action, and that's where the confusion comes from.

This is EmperorMagnus' announcement for his candidacy of Minister of Science.
"Unlike war, which must be carefully planned, I believe science is a here and now sort of thing. If elected minister of science, I will focus on what we need at the moment. Work on a skyscraper can not begin if the foundation is unfinished. If we focus on the present rather than the future, we will be able to make better use of our advances later down the road. If elected, I favor a beeline to the republic in order to boost our science and economy, followed by military research spree. Decimate America to the point of extinction, then offer peace in exchange for every tech they have plus some gtp"

Military code.....
Mandatory: abbr.
Not tolerated: compl.
Ok, I'm not even from that continent. But I've heard the old reporter in 60 Min. complaining his longues empty, while turning wrinkled tomato....
Well, I really don't like abbreviations nor complaining.
