Heh, I was wondering how long it would be before someone did this in our democracy....
Are we going to have an "Incumbent" in other our other election threads?

I think we should make it a rule : no gallup polls during the week before the elections. This way, we won't confuse people with 2 polls on the same issue. What do you think ?

I don't care. We have public opinion polling before real elections. The only problem I would see is that if one candidate or the other holds a crushing victory in an opinion poll and that affects the votes of others, or how the candidates perform.

any citizen should be able to post a poll or thread on anything he wants whenever he wants. The official polls will say OFFICIAL. Everyone has a right to be heard. This is like saying television stations cant poll citizens before real presidential elections because it may influence the way people vote. Campaigning and polling are both parts of any elections. If this is going to be a democracy game then the people have a right to be heard.

I don't think so. I can't imagine a circumstance where Mark or Dan would choose to reveal that information to non staff. I doubt any of the other staff would do it without Mark or Dan saying so. I could be wrong though.

Should this information should be avaliable to all?
I suspect some citizens who are on good terms with admin could swindle access.
I hear Uber was visiting Firaxis today!

He was... almost (?) invited by Mike or Dan. I can't remember which. I think Mike. He is actually a great fan of Sid's and the Firaxians seem very willing to overlook his 'outbursts'. Most of them anyways.
He is supposed to check his back pack at the door though.

you are 100% correct. yes there will be people who lie, or abstain, but this is unofficial[/I]. it will give some idea of how the election will turn out. why all the negativity? there is nothing wrong with this poll...

Because if people see the current vote and say "hey, this guy is winning by a lot, my vote won't matter anyways, screw it, I'm not voting anymore", then that is affecting how things will end up. And if many people make that decision, then the election could end up skewed.

How do you know? I know in many instances where people have just not voted because they didn't think their vote would matter. And regarding the close poll, we're talking about the acceptability of this kind of poll overall, not just this one.
