How people here remeber the original of this joke, on the cover of the National lampoon magazine around 30 years ago.

-I'm not sure what you mean, but there was a copy of that picture with the kitten and those um... things chasing it with the caption, "Everytime you masterbate, God kills a kitten." floating around the dorms at Georgia Tech.

Bannergate!
Controversy sweeps the internet.
Reputed mob bosses Dan 'frosty' Quick and Mark 'don't call me Dino' Giano... oh hell, it's Greek OK... are under investigation by the FBI for abuse of kittens and total disregard for the dignity of America's political leadership.
Thanks to a tip from an alert citizen, this one, authorities will now be able to investigate and bring the mendicants to justice.
In a related story, the mobs torpedoe Ming 'the frog' Rodmeister appears to have gone underground as the furor erupted. Speculation is rampant that he may be on a road trip in Michigan to 'look after a problem'.

He was very serious, but now it appears as if he has edited everything out.
I strongly suspect that he is the person mentioned by Mark as being the poster 'lost' due to the kitten banner.

Don't laugh. Cats own you.
Yes, the banner is in poor taste. Don't get mad, get even. Get a website at Geocities and put nothing on it but a giant sign saying "Apolyton is for losers", then put the address in every post you make here.

Well, let's see...cat lovers are usually mature family people with JOBS, CREDIT CARDS,CHECK BOOKS, willing to buy poly bric-brac.
Cat haters tend to be 15-25 year olds who are either students or barely making it, spend their excess wealth on booze (or rarely, broads), normally sexually frustrated, borderline psychopaths who dream of a sueudo/Stalinist worker's paradise while continually striking out in the real world, and unlikey to buy a mug or tee shirt.
And to whom is your add catering too?

I love cats. I am not offended by a joke based on earlier jokes.
And the fooking joke isn't even about kittens in the first place... It's about Victorian views on... 'self love'.

That describes Alexanders Horse to a tee. I'm not sure if he is willing to buy poly bric-brac, but the rest is certainly true of him. And he is - wait for it - a cat hater...

And meanwhile that generalisation covers me, and yet I'm *gasp* not a cat hater!
Me thinks your generalisations are not worth the paper they are printed on.

Amazing, apolyton is getting famous by the kitten thing!
I suggest: continue the kitten-type of advertisment and spread it to dogs, turtles, mice, little children !
I'm sure we'll be able to be mentioned on CNN !
Our 15 seconds of fame is near !
C'mon Markos, don't shy away!
Negative attention is attention as well
Nobody can say anymore he didn't knew about the apolyton-save the kitten-store!
wooohoooo

Ah, paper. How fondly I remember thee. Before the advent of the Internet, I used to get all my news on paper. I even wrote letters to friends using paper.

CyberShy has a point. There is an axiom in marketing that publicity of any kind is good. However, I can think of many exceptions to this rule. I'm sure Ming can to.
But 'Bannergate' would surely rate in the positives, since any reasonable human (being the ones you want to target) will not hold this against the establishment. They will however say, Poly? Gee, haven't I heard of that someplace before? Must be good, lets go check it out... Onwards to CNN!

Bad publicity? Hmmm. How about appearing on America's Most Wanted?
Osama could probably give you some insider information on the subject, as well.

Pherhaps lines like "Everytime you don't buy 'poly merchandize we'll fly a plane......"
ok, pherhaps not so funny though.
We'll make it into CNN seriously btw, and we'll finally know what Markos looks like since his picture will be spread all over the country
ok, back to the innocent kitten killing things.

I think Osama and his cohorts are quite pleased with the publicity of the last 10 months. It is highly doubtful that any wing nuts who might be sympathetic have not heard of him by now. The esteem with which he is held within existing extremist groups must also have increased.
They might not be so happy about the attentions of the US (and NATO) militaries though.

Ok, STOP THAT!!!
Back on topic; the name of the thread is "Killing Kittens."
There must be ten-freaking-thousand threads on said islamic terrorist and his onerous deeds. You wanna comment on that, go to one of them!
Good lord, can't anyone on this site (except us Scenario League dudes ), take a JOKE?!
Markos, for the record; It's hilarious. I laugh every time I see that banner. Stefu--thanks.

Would you be so blase if the ad in question featured pictures of starving Third World children and the caption "Whenever you don't buy Apolyton products, we crack an African's head?"
