Man, if they can't understand the joke, we don't want them at Poly anyway.
Say, Markos, how did you happen to acquire so many kittens? (Might it not just be easier to sell the kittens?)

Would you be so blase if the ad in question featured pictures of starving Third World children and the caption "Whenever you don't buy Apolyton products, we crack an African's head?"
|
-But that wouldn't be an allusion to an older joke now would it?

I've seen allusions that were further from the original joke. When was the original joke from anyway? 1950? If you're old enough to actually remember that, you're probably dead and not seeing the banner on Apolyton.

You don't need to know the 'old' joke to get the kitten one.
You must be pretty insane to think that it's possible to kill a kitten everytime you do something NOT
And about the starving children in africa......... *gasp*
then you can't make any joke.
Do you know about the elephant and the mouse walking over the bridge. The mouse said "Quite a noise we make, don't we?"
No replace 'the mouse' with a 'lightweight starving african child! QUIET A BAD TASTE JOKE

Imagine Markos killing a kitten any time anybody does not buy something from the store..........
he really needs an automatic weapon in that case.
How silly and stupid can people be.
In fact we should force everybody who's going to visit apolyton to take an IQ test, and only allow people with an IQ above 110. (don't replace 'people with below 110 with starving african chidlren, since than it would be a bad taste joke)
oh wait, it's a joke.
Otherwise civgames will soon run a thread: "Apolyon only accepts inteligent gamers and discriminates the stupid ones"

Please, try to learn how to debate before you blunder into it. Or, just go ahead and flounder. It is somewhat entertaining.

Hey Markos, you need to name the source of your pictures!
I have a copyright on that one
edit: fixed the 'doitnow' failures

Oh, btw, what if we expand the kitten franchise,
and remove all non-kitten related store banners, and add all the kitten-related ones I made ? Included the "We love kitten" one?
Just only kitten banners.
That would be great !

How people here remeber the original of this joke, on the cover of the National lampoon magazine around 30 years ago.
-I'm not sure what you mean, but there was a copy of that picture with the kitten and those um... things chasing it with the caption, "Everytime you masterbate, God kills a kitten." floating around the dorms at Georgia Tech.
The inspiration was mainly from "Every time you masturbate" picture, but also bit from the Nat. Lampoon cover.

Hardly, one is a threat, the other says help prevent the threat.
It's never smart to alienate potential customers, humor or not withstanding.
Ask Ming about this, even if people find it cute or funny, you create a preception in people's minds about a callousness towards animals, and you will create a sub-concious aversion to poly products in some people.
In the retail world, NEVER insult ANY potenial buying group, that's simply good buisness.
You will notice the youngsters are laughing at the ads, but none have said they will BUY anything because of them.
Think about it.

Obviously.
Your analogy is NOT apt. As in; wrong, misplaced, poorly thought out, in error
Do you want me to speak a little slower?
Now I recall why I confine my activity on this site to the Scenario League. The population of the OT is characterized principally by poltroons.
