Moral values of Apolyton

This week, a survey was published here in Denmark on contemporary values and moral standards. Surprisingly to some, it showed stong discrepancy between people from different parts of the country. Not just fluctuations, but real indications that people from e.g. Jutland found it far, far less acceptable for instance to tell a lie than did people from Copenhagen. Most interesting.

Anyway, it gave me the idea to survey how we here at Apolyton view some select actions and manners of conduct. No doubt there'll be differences as to people's background, location etc., but that's as may be. Can't work that into the poll.

For now, let's see how Apolyton as a whole looks on moral issues as picked by me, in my notorious omniscience.

If you find you can't answer because you don't find yourself to be in the situation you're asked about, please imagine that you were and answer accordingly - or answer on the basis of what you think would be okay for other people in that situation.

Hmmmm,

Well, I voted 'yes' for all the things that I have done and (supposedly) know better.

Other's I voted 'yes' because of extrenuating cirumstances that may warrant these mores (pronounced moh-rays) to be broken.

For the record, I'm not condemning organ transplants - I simply hold the view that they're unethical to me.

BTW sorry if i seem to repeat myself, but i feel it like some sort of obligation to point out that

yes muslims theoretically arent supposed to drink alcohol or eat pig.

but most of them do

it's like saying all christians feast, dont lie and dont kill or something which is tada not true.

To me, it doesn't make any difference where the organ comes from. It's the concept in itself of inserting living organs to prolong my life that I find disturbing.

My stance on this issue is not a question of what is technically possible to do. Quite the contrary, it's a question of what I want to happen, regardless of the options available.

By the way, having made up one's mind in detail on the transplant issue - be it for or against and under what circumstances - makes it much easier for the next of kin as an added benefit.

You might also ask, why do currently 14 people think it's okay to smoke marihuana, while only 13 think it's okay to smoke tobacco.

As an avid smoker of tobacco since my 13th year, I'm beginning to think I might actually be a social rebel.
