MUD-Insania
My friend has made a MUD and needs some constructive criticism from someone other than me. If you would be so kind as to drop in some time and leave a messege on the board it would be much appreciated. Thanks. (the board is one room west of the start room) Regular players would be a nice thing too
http://hardison.net/~nornina/Mud/
p.s. if you're just going to complain don't leave a messege. she's had too many complaints already and is close to closing it down

I'll check it out - unfortunately our corporate firewall kills telnet...
Thanks, SG[1]

Wizards are people who can create areas, monsters, and items in MUD's. Maybe called gods or something in some games.

I would try it, but my crappy old computer, which had a nice version of Zmud, just died. Anyone know where I can I download a decent freeware mud client?

Thats my own personal mud client which I wrote mostly while an admin on the darkmists mud (the one it defaults to), Im no longer with them, but its still a decent client and its free/open source
It should run in Windows 98/ME/XP
Ive been told it doesnt function in Windows 2K, and I dont have access to win 2k to figure out why, but its probally just some silly problem with direct draw.

Thanx for the linx. Ill try each one out and see which one I like. Good to still see some Mudders around. I started a thread last month about telnet muds, and was surprised that people still were into Mudding considering its "low-tech" feel.
Here's the one that I usually play at. It has a good combat system and stats, though its rather limited in size. Based on news items, there still seems to be a fair amount of coding and modifying going on, and that's a good sign.

I haven't played on it for a while, but I would recommend Xyllomer to anyone. Lots of roleplaying, no unwarranted PKs, very interesting world with quests and puzzles mixed in with the monster bashing.

MUD's are primarily good for social interactions

Just march into a guild HQ and insult their leaders, former leaders or deity and spit on the floor for good measure. You won't have any problem finding a fight or ten then

do a search on google for 'mudlib' you'll get many different types. I suggest circle mud as it appears to have more 'support'.
has for having her get in touch with you I dont think shed be up for that... she doesn't enjoy MUD making too much but it's really the only thing she has to do all day long. I'll ask her but dont get your hopes up.
