Early flight units?
A biplane would be very nice. Perhaps it would be limited to scouting? And be available with combustion?
Or a zeppelin- it would be easy to kill by fighters, but have long range and good bombard capability, available before flight, perhaps?
And I think the gap between the lancaster-type bomber and the stealth is much too great. Any Ideas for a bridge?

a Zeplin should be able to move like a ground/sea unit over any terrain, but cant be attacked from ground. And they can bombard the ground and only aircraft can stop them.

I totally agree. Right after we first flew, we had canvas covered biplanes, not metal skinned monoplanes. There aren't enough air units. The gap between prop and stealth bomber could be filled with a jet bomber.

A Zeppelin would be a great idea, much better than any biplane you'd add. But, even if it was a very limited bombarder, that was not it's main function, and I don't see any reason why it should get bombard functionality in Civ. No, zeppelins were explorers, so make a zeppelin see 4 spaces, regardless of terrain. Further, movement rate of 1, and like Hazie said, it can't be attacked from the ground and able to cross any terrain. And, one or two techs earlier than flight, so the first zeppelins are invincible, until fighters appear...

Great minds think alike. A Zeppelin is a must in my never-finished modpack. It would make the age of flight longer.
