My 3rd successfull OCC
I landed in 1946 - I was the only one who had launched his space ship. My city site was quite good 3 whales and silk, some woods.
I blocked the AI civs for some thousand years by a NONE unit on an Isthmus (you'll find the place if you look at the 1945-save), so on my part of the continent where no other cities
I'm an average civ-player, but this should encourage other players who dare to try it.
Settings:
Deity/7 civs/Medium world/wet/big landmass (excuse me if I didn't use the exact term, I'm German and my civ version is configured German, too) / archipelago/ 3 billion years/ raging hordes / no restart
You play the White (Romans).
If you want to try it too, I've attached the 4000 B.C and the 1945-sav (civ-version 2.42).
Once again: this is to encourage the learning and the average players.
Good luck!

@Hydey
Thank you, Hydey.
These words are nearly as good as a beer from down under ...
I only know Foster's. But I know (cause Germany is also well known for it's beers) that you won't export your best beers ...You drink them by yourselves (at least Germans would do that!)
"Think global, drink local" - a slogan i recently saw.

As for me, I congratulate you for both. Knowing that Germans, Aussies and others hold back their best beers I shudder to think what utter swill my countrymen are exporting.

@el civ
As an american, you know the "budweiser" - but did you ever drink the real "budweiser" from the czech republic?
It's the Empress of beers!
But there are a lot of kings and queens and dukes and counts ...
Kilkenny ... Tuborg ...Foster's ...Guinness
...Pilsener from Pilsen and so on.
As I already mentioned - think global, drink local.
Sometimes I'd like to have 10 tongues and throats only to taste the beers of the world ...
Perhaps someone can make a fun-modpack of that - 7 beerdrinking and brewing civs - he who has all the breweries rules the world
In Germany there a more than 6000 breweries and each of them produces some special beers. And Germany is surrounded by beer drinking and brewing counties: Denmark, Czech Republic, Belgium, France, Austria ...come and visit europe ...

(Burp!) That would have to be quite a long visit. I wonder if anyone in Germany has tasted all those 6000×nn beers? While I enjoy trying beers just to see what they're like, I rarely enjoy one enough to want to finish the bottle.
For alcohol, I'm with the Gits. Gimme a decent red, especially a pinot noir, and I'm happy.
Mod: Temple = Brewery; Cathedral = Vinyard; Market = Pub; Bank = Cafe; Exchange = 3-star restaurant…

Ah the Vegemite sandwich.
Well Vegemite is made from beer or atleast the yeast extract left over from the beer making.

My late congratulations too - reminiscent of my own first OCC some time ago.
I've just come back from Bavaria and the Rhineland-Palatinate where the "Weinstrasse" was a highlight.
I note you're from Essen but is there a Trinken?

Spaceship is on auto. As long as the engineers are sober when they make the guidance system we're safe.

For me, the best czech beer is the "Urquell" !
BTW good OCC : do you try each of comparison game from Paul's site ?
It's a challenge I did. All of them are playable, but I failed with the OCC with limitation of the number of citizens (8 or 4 cit challenge) and I don't reach AC with the polar start : I can resist, but not be the first in science when one AI civ has conquested the others.
