With all the potential for micromanagement I hope they have a tutorial with it. Not on how to do things, but on the considerations that need to be made and how the various components of micro-management interact.

I dont think theyll tell you whether "piggy in the middle" is better than say "shadow play" for defenders attributes. I think thats the kind of thing SI want us to find out for ourselves.

I played that for months on my commodore64 (ahh, those were the days )
That's how I got into this game

On the subject of old football manager sims, i just had a little dabble with Ultimate Soccer Manager again just to see how crap it really was, but it did have some good ideas. I particularly liked bribing the opposition or placing bets on other teams. And of course, the 2D view.

I got my copy of the CM4 magazine in the post today. It is looking very impressive.
On the interface issue: not only is the game skinable in the sense that the colours and fonts can be changed, but the game also supports XML editing so that it is possible to completely redesign the moving the interface, moving buttons and windows around however you want.
Also, the game supports full keyboard-mapping so that you can assign various hotkeys to screens for even quicer navigation.
Navigation will be even easier because you can now select common options, such as "Add to Shortlist" by right-clicking on a player's name. Other right-click options have been added to cut a couple of clicks and screen-changes off the most common commands.
February will be a great month.

I was abit unsure about the look of it a first but a very good idea by SI to set it up and basically let the fans design the interface. Kinda reminds me of CtP2's open file structure. The new resolution is 1024*768 too so it should leave plenty of room for change.
Thankgod we can use the keys now, all those mouse clicks!

LoL! looks like Barthez!
I have been playing LigaMan on my PalmPilot lately. It looks like CM designed for an Apple IIe! at least I don't have to lace up the boots and get outta my chair.

I haven't played it either.
Is it a Beta-by-application or is it available for download somewhere?

CM is the only other game that I really play apart from civ/cpt. If I have a bad experience in one of the games I switch to the other. Here is the last game of CM01/02 that I played, this was played over many months.
I took Forest Green up the premier in consecutive seasons
year
1. conf (champions)
2. div3 (champions)
3. div2 (champions)
4. div1 (runners-up)
Then I had about 5 hard seasons in the premier league where I struggled to stay up, one season we had to win the last game.
Season six I got into europe after winning intertoto cup, and won eufa cup. After this I went on to glory over the next 7 seasons won Premier league 4 times, champions league 5 times, fa cup 2 times, league cup once.
Only problem was I did not edit the game to let me build a bigger stadium so 23,000 was as big as I could get.

What is Nagano tactic?
I just used the default 4-1-3-2 and customized it to suit my needs.

Nakano, right
I have tried it, and started improving on it (read: making it my own)
but stopped playing shortly after that(exploits tend to end the fun for me).
can't wait for the 2D thingy though
