The Complete History of the Viking Nation, as told by Prime Minister Canute II
Chapter 1: Fall of the Greeks

It was 4000bc and a group of fishing communities on the coast of the North Atlantic Ocean joined together under the rule of a wise cheiftain named Canute, my father. Canute had a vision that showed the Vikings as the masters of the world. After the vision the god of war, Odin, gave Canute imortality to guide his people into the future. The gods gave Canute's citizens the expansionist technology of Pottery, to store extra food and the comercial technology of Runic Alphabet, to reliably save knowledge for the future. Odin said that there were 7 other nations that had thier own great imortal rulers: The United States of America, ruled by Abraham Lincoln; Rome, ruled by Julius Caesar; China, ruled by Mao Tse-Tung; Mexico, ruled by Montezuma; India, ruled by Mohandas Ghandi, Greece, ruled by Alexander the Great; and Egypt, ruled by Cleopatra VII.

100 years later Canute's first city, Trondhiem, was growing well. We had a regiment of Warriors trained and were now building a Grainery to store barley in the cold winters. Some citizens were experimenting in copper alloys to use in armor and spears. It was discoved that an alloy of 9 parts copper to 1 part tin stayed sharp much better than pure copper and a new defense unit, the bronze spearman, was created. Canute quickly equiped the millitia with this new material.

In 3000bc the we made contact with the Romans. In a tech trade we got 2 new technologies, the Wheel, and Warrior Code. Over in Trondhiem we had 3 spearmen units, a chariot unit, and an archer unit. We also had 2 worker groups building mines, farms, and roads. Trondhiem had also built a temple to Odin, and was building an enormous bronze statue showing our greatness.

In 2350bc we founded 2 new cities and had made contact with the Egyptians and the Greeks. Both leaders weren't to kind either. By 1400 bc we had 5 cities and discovered how to write Runic on papyrus imported from Egypt instead of carving them on stones. In the quadannual meeting with all the known nations Caesar was so furious with Alexander for calling a viking friend a fuzzball because of the heavy wool clothing and called the vikings backward people that he threw a clay pot at Alex and knocked him unconssious for a few minutes. When Alexander came to he was so mad that he declared war on us and Rome and stormed out of Canute's Palace. Canute and Caesar started planning thier corurse of attack. Greece had 3 cities, it was decided that Rome would attack the heavely defended Athens with her Legions, we would strike Sparta and Thermopylae with our horsemen.

It was morning, General Pericles was still sleepy when he looked out of his Athens villa to see Colonel Pyktos telling citzens to take refuge in the nearby fort, then from the morning fog he saw a horrifying sight; 10,000 legions and 1,500 horsemen lining up a half mile away from the palisade around Athens. The horsemen had the Scandinavian Cross painted on thier Armour, The Legion comander carried the Crest of the Roman Capitol as his shield. General Pericles quickly deployed Athens' 10,000 spearmen and 500 chariots to face the allied army. Then, out of the blue came 5,000 swordsmen wearing turbans, the Indians had arrived! Pericles was in dispair, how could he defeat so many swordsmen ahe horsemen? At that moment the horsemen charged. The wooden palisade was no mactch for the combined mass of 1,500 horses which treated the wooden poles like toothpicks! The wall gave way, but then spearmen and chariots poured out of the city and engaged the horsemen. Then the force of 15,000 foot soldiers massacred the spearmen and outdated chariots. Athens has fallen, and Alexander was dead.

Chapter 2: Peace Returns

Canute was pleased with Ghandi in helping in the war with the Greeks. After the fall of Thermopylae Canute, Caesar, and Ghamdi decided to take Athens together as a symbol of Alliance. Scandinavia took Thermopylae, India took Sparta, and Rome took Athens. Caesar said that Alexander commited suicide with poison rather than be captured. Alex's millitary advisor, Gen. Pericles was killed on the battlefield. Peace had returned to Eurasia.

In 950bc a remarkable advance in trade occured. Canute had the idea of making small gold disks to us as a medium of exchange instead of bargaining for goods. The Vikings were the first people to use currency. We now had 8 cities and the new marketplace building binge had made our economy flourish. A new political idea in Rome, the Republic, was overtaking Scandinavia. Canute used this philosophy to help the economy expand even further. Canute procaimed that he would give absolute power to a Senate chosen by the people. The new pesonal freedoms made merchants fram all over flock to our cites. We were the most advanced power on the planet.

By 50bc we had 3 great monuments to our greatness; the Colossus of Trondhiem, the Pyramids in Oslo, and the Great Library of Stockholm. We now had 11 cities, science was booming. We discovered the arch, the dome, and the use of concrete, we had entered the middle ages. A new religious idea sprung, that Odin was the only god.

Things weren't so good on the diplomatic front, though. Cleopatra was blaming Canute for the spread of monotheism in Egypt. Canute tried to explain the ideals of religious tolerance, but she declared that all belivers of Odin in Egypt would be fed to the crocodiles! Enraged, Canute declred that he had to protect his people from tyranny, and he declared war...
