Face it, you Greeks got your asses kicked in 1453. The Turks can call it whatever they want, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Istanbul.
Because Constantinople sounds too exotic, considering the state of the city.

Right, same think with most American monuments and memorials they do look pretty because they are in Greek Style and on some of 'em there is actually greek written on them. Look at Washington DC, everything seems to be a kitsch copy of Greek Temples and Architectonical Style.

What the Hell does this have to do with the Turks making the Hagia Sophia look better than before?

The true test of a civilization is how good their food is.
Therefore, the chinese are the greatest, followed by the mexicans (Aztec), Italians, greeks, Burmans, ... #478 on the list is the Turks, just above the welsh, the Bushmen of the Khalahari, and the fuqawis.*

If Turkey joins the EU, they will have come full circle and joined the people they once conquered. Perhaps the price of admittance to the EU would be to restore the name of the city to Constantinople in recognition of their "surrender."

Surrender? Actually it might Eastern Europe who'll have surrendered, because the Turks have been on good terms with the British and French for a significant periods in their history.

Bah, the turks are the only true greeks left anyway; today's greeks are just a bunch of transcarpathian gypsies. Though for both the warm blood flows thru a large four chambered heart, maintaining the very high metabolism that they share.
btw - Turkish food rules and the Hagi Sophia looks incredible. What have you guys been smokin'?

Good idea
Only one problem. Turkey will never enter the EU.
So we might just have to take it back after all

So you are saying that the Hagia Sophia is now ugly?
Bullshit, it is one of the most wonderful structures in the world, inside more glorious than outside. Only a Greek Nationalist would differ .

blah blah blah
And it is not "nationalistic" to state the obvious. That The church has been destroyed inside, the paintings and everything else have been destroyed so it looked better when it was not destroyed.
Only an islamic muslim wouldn't say that...

One of my absolute favorite dishes is a Turkish dish, the name of which I forget. It's basically a tomato stew stuffed into an eggplant. Yum!

American food is the best, because our cuisine includes the cuisines over every immigrant group we have.

Hey, I put Italian at third, didn't I?
American food is best, that is true- we take native disheds from other land, add sugar and mayonaise and butter and sour cream, and BAM! Americana.
BTW: Islamic Muslim? Is that like a Dutch Hollander? Are you from the Department of Redundancy Department?
