No I don't, I was speaking of the modern Greek State, i.e. after 1827.

Modern Greek State? Well that's no fun.
Then the modern Turkish state only attacked Cyprus, and that was to prevent those evil Greeks from killing the Turkish minority .

Did I miss something? I never saw Greek invasion forces that landed at night, then went on to loot, kill and destroy?! There are still a lot of people unaccounted it for in Cyprus and you should know about it since there are still Americans MIA in Vietnam! By the way I think that them landing there actually doomed the poor turks that live on the island since that half is still very backwards.

Actually the Greek forces were very nationalistic on the island. They spoke like Milosevic spoke before he was able to mass exterminate 'others'. The Turks, rightly, feared for their lives.

I voted Byzantium because:
1. Istanbul is an Islamic name given to the city by those b4stard turks.
2. Constantinople is the name given by the Roman Emperor that was chiefly responsible for the spread of Christianity.
3. Byzantium just sounds cooler.

It actually has it's origins in Greek.

So, Islam's origins are from Judaism and Christianity, what's your point? Should anything Islamic be referred to as Jewish or Christian? That would surely piss a lot of Ahmed's off. It was given by the Turks, the Turks are Islamic, hence, Islamic name.

No, I mean... we discussed this.
Istanbul comes from a kind-of messed transliteration of the Greek saying 'to the city'.

Very true, there was some tough nationalistic talk but there's a big difference between that and an invasion!? Fact of history is that Greece never really was aggressive. We never just walked into another land (Hitler in Poland, States in Somalia, UK in half the known world, etc.).
Anyway, if you really ask me they can keep what they have and stop the territorial claims they have of Greece. As for the Cypriot matter I think that the Cypriots are pretty capable themselves and should solve it on their own and with the help of the intl community and organisations. It's a pity though that we have blue helmets down there well over 25 years now. Which actually shows the lack of will for the intl community and America to give critical solutions.

Hey everyone I found the flag Paikti salutes, (thanks to GS for letting me use his webpage for storage). Pattycakes is so right wing and so racist he prefers this flag. Paitki salutes the greek flag with an alteration:

If the mods want to take away the flag, let them, I'll e-mail him the pic. Paitki has called me a murderer, a torture supporter, a fascist, he has questioned my humanity, he has called you a nazi. Paikti goes far enough with his insults and posted enough racist stuff this flag suits him well.

paitkis just knee-jerk lashes out in the most vicious manner he can when you argue with him. Once you get used to it, he's not all that bad...
