Which Civ is your favorite one?
Well?

Mine is China since their militaristic and industrious trait fits my style the best.

I believe this is only the 42nd version of this poll, but what the hell.

Aztec. The Jaguar warrior will swarm over your civ and consume you. Mwaha. ha.

I haven't seen any similar polls for several weeks so I decide to give it a try.

Yeah, Jaguar Warriors are useful, but only if you start next to a bunch of AI civs with no early age UUs. What happens if you end up on an island?

Besides, I hate the Aztec civ with a passion. Their culture was one of the most evil and repugnant cultures in world history.

Japan. Similar to China, actually, but I'm one of those who gives the slight edge to Religious over Industrious (by a nose). I like China as well, and have been experimenting with the Aztecs.

I also like the Egyptians, but I've been seduced by the power of the Dark Side (read: Great Leaders).

I'm very torn between choosing Japanese or Chinese. Religious is a very good trait, too, but in the end I see that I prefer industrious a little bit more.

Like you, I'm GL junkie. I have generated 11 GLs so far in my game as Chinese by 1778.

My favorite traits are Religious (for faster culture growth and anarchy-free change of government) and Industrious (for worker speed), so that would point toward Egypt.

However, I haven't played more than two full games, from start to finish, with each Civ, so it's really hard to say which I like best.

What I really like is the challenge of having to shift mental gears when I start a new game playing as a Civ totally different from the previous.

The Persians are my favourite for some good reason that I haven't discovered yet. The UU perhaps.

I don't judge civs on how good they are or their UU, I just like them because I like them. The Zulu are my favorite. Here are my top six:

1. Zulu
2. Iroquois
3. Persia
4. Babylon
5. Germany (I like them quite a bit less than Babylon)
6. China (I don't like them nearly as much as Germany)

Egyptian because:
a) my most memorable game so far was with the Egyptians
b) I'm only managing to win a quarter of the games I've played, but all three times I played Egyptians I won - so those traits must suit my style of play.

persians
persians:
have best trait (industrious) and good 2nd trait.
UU (immortal (iron working), 4|2|1) comes at a good time on small to standard maps: i mostly conquer my 2-3 nearest rivals with about 10-15 immortals (+1 spearman per captured city). GA helps getting in the replacements for the (very few) lost units.

Gotta go France!

Musketeers are great for counter attacking knights and even cavalry, and you can switch tactics with them relatively fast.

I love industrious civs ... I think its the best advance for a number of reasons I don't want to flood this thread with. And commercial civs start one step closer to libraries and more importantly, the republic. Since I start with masonry too, I can start building those wonderful pyraminds quickly without going against my quest for the republic.

However, I kinda wish I could trade the Commercial with Religious for the French.. Egypt is a close second of mine. I studied French history in university as side courses for a few years and I think they deserve to be more of a religious/industrious civ.

And finally, I just like them! Is that so bad? I just change the colour before the game to either the light blue or the orange they add as extra colours...

Just my two cents

Cheers
~Thadalex

Other favs:

3. Greece
4. Mexico (Aztecs)

From that list, probably China for the 3 move Rider. Post-PTW, I would go with Carthage; that 2/3/1 Mercinary rocks, I just don't like the early Golden Age. The defense of a Hoplite with 2 attack ...yeah.
