We need some researchers
i wanna find out if people with 1.29 can send copy's of their demo sav to people who stil have 1.21
IF the sav can go between the two versions safely, then we wont have to worry about people waiting to upgrade....
but to keep so many NA's on 1.21 needlessly would be dumb, so i wanna know IF we can start going over to 1.29 yet safely.

Here's a save of the game that I have opened and resaved with version 1.29. Someone with 1.21 try to open it and see if it works.

what we specifically need is to find out if some euro-players can open it up with their version of 1.21, that would be the major hurdle
but im gonna test your 1.29er out

Jonny and Ninot
I did the same. When I tried to open the new sav in my laptop, with 1.21, I got an instant error, too.

perhaps we should have a poll to see the spread of our population who have different versions of the game. This would be useful for hgelping to find a solution to this problem as feedback comes in about peoples' experimentations with the new patch and their old saves. I've tried looking for all the different versions of the game that have been made, in order to help facilitate making this poll, but I haven't found any good source of info yet. Im sure one of our more technical members would know this info though, so no problemo

The poll will be fine, but meanwhile Mr. Ninot and his cabinet can't upgrade untill everybody do it. They must still running the game with 1.21 BTW, I doubt everybody goes to upgrade. Not everybody approved , I was just reading the posts in the thread about 1.29.

I mean a poll to see what version of the game our citizens have (i.e. english, french, german, etc), not if they want to keep playing if the Euros cant. That poll you are refering to probably has already been done, though I never saw it.

I saw somewhere else in another forum, that strange results might happen if you use a 1.21 save game with 1.29, so I suggest this not be done for any of the "official" saves.

The sav not going back is to be expected, however it is not a huge issue. Most of 1.29 is the editor and more options there.
Either we all go 1.29 or we mostly stay. Most comments based on 1.29 will be invalid for 1.21. For instance, tech trades with the AI (they will cost more to buy with 29).
A word of caution though. Soren said that results of a 21 game continued with 29 could be unpredictable as far as research and tech trading are concerned.
However, given the smoothness of overall transition, maybe we should all go 29.
