What do you mean by "none have been successful"? The MarlaMap and its several spinoffs work fine.

I donīt think there is a accurate World map with accurate starting locations available. The option to select starting locations was only implemented in the new parch, 1,29f. I donīt think they have gotten around to do it, but if you have Marlas map and the new patch, you could probably modify it to be accurate yourselve.

I would rather have standard accurate Earth Map (or even Large, if standard not possibile).
Huge maps are pretty unplayable on my computer, and ultra gigantic 256x256 maps are just pointlesss without at leat 1Ghz PC.

I'll take a Large or Huge Earth map with correct starting locations for each Civilization, so I can have fun playing like I used to. And this time with the Iroqois and Aztechs Ameirca/Sioux won't control all of N and S America. So, any word on when current world maps are gonna get updated to 1.29f and historic start locations?

i also would love accurate starting locations. I dont feel right starting in like australia when im england. And like player 1, id also like an accurate standard sized map, largely because my computer is pretty useless!

I would prefer a standard earth map as well. I believe though, that one was supplied with the game, you could just edit it for starting locations now, as was said.

The only probelm is that it is VERY UGLY map.
Britain is near Spain and doesn't look at Britain at all.
Italy is just too small, Balkan is non-exsistant, Scandinavia is to much at notrth, africqa is full of unform jungles and plains, Japan is too far from Asia, etc...
Finally, after is mini-map included in Civ3 Editor, I can see how horribile this map is.
Same applies to Huge map too.
P.S.
Only map which was worse looking was official Earth map for CTP2.

Before the current patch, Gramphos' Civ Placement Tool allowed you to place civs on whatever tile you wanted.
