The year 1218 dawns. The Horde grows restless with inactivity. But the Great Khan is troubled. He sits in his tent, drinking kumiss, brooding....

Mongol cavalry have been spotted in fortresses just southwest of Xian, apparently in an attempt to open up a western front. Large numbers of Sung pikemen have taken up positions to the south and east of the horde, hopefully buying Xian some time to prepare its defenses.
1950 more gold sent to the Chin to deal with this new threat.

Indian merchants have left the Khwarizmian road.
Other merchants have reached Mesopotamia, seeking in vain a city which would take their valuable cargo. They are now moving towards Christian territories. The Pope is asked whether any of the cities within his territories asks for Hides.

The Fall of Alamut
After a siege that lasted for years, Alamut, mighty citadel of the Assassins, fell to the Khwarezmian army! And which is more, the fortifications saw only minor damages and will be repaired in no time, securing the Khwarezmian western border!
The combat was violent, with heavy casualties on both sides: the khwarezmian emperor himself fell at the foot of the Alamut wall!
But the time is not for mourning, as his son, Jalal Al-Din, took his place!
Even in his young years, he is seen as a promising leader second only to Gengis, the mighty mongol Khan!
The assassin threat is now over, and all the rulers of the world can sleep quietly, not fearing a dagger in the night or a scorpion under the pillow...
The keeper of the Assassin treasury escaped, though, and strangely went into hiding in the Mongols territory, taking with him 500 gold. There is good hope this money will be returned and then given to all the khwarezmian widows whose men died freeing the world from the assassins threat...
And the save:

The Palace at Karakorum has denied rumours that Genghis Khan has dissapeared into the trackless steppe. Oh no, said a Palace spokesmodel, "he's just taking a well deserved fishing holiday on Lake Baikal. He'll be back at work on Monday."

Sorry, you ain't the only one with finals.
Troops arrive at the northern front in droves...
Chengdu has been heavily reinforced, and fresh pike and crossbowmen have manned the mountain fortresses north of the city.

The Pope has asked an Indian caravan which passed by near Antiochia for negotiations. India is willing to open negotiations with the Christians as well. If the Pope is interested, he can write a PM to my humble self.
Similar things also count for the Muslims. There are a couple of proposals the Indians would like to make and discuss this with the Caliph. Apparently, there seems to be war between our empires. The Sultan is certain that the Caliph is just as willing to end this period of hostilities. Again, he is invited to write a PM.

The Christian Armies have been rebuffed in their attack on Mainz. Heavy weapons and better Generals are being brought up to renew the attack on the city.
----------
Sorry about this delay - I have no good excuses for it.

The king of Ningsia leads a parade around the city walls.... or rather his head, on a Mongol pike.
