Hit Point Restoration
How many hit points does a depleted unit recover in a turn? In a city without Barracks/Port/Airport? Outside of a city? What can influence the restoration rate?
Not a regular reader of this forum (but will watch it closely, now), I'm betting that this has been examined here in the past. The deciphering of civ2 inner workings that's been accomplished here has been impressive. Anyone have answers or links to answers?

I'm sure this has been discussed thoroughly in the past. Please check out the great library thread for combats and units.
Generally for land units the minimum is 10% per turn if the unit did not move by itself (traverlling on a boat may or may not be an exception). I remember that within 3 squares of friendly city without barracks gets 20%, inside a city without barracks or within 3 squares of a city with barracks gets 30%-40% (don't remember which is which), inside a city with barracks gets full recovery. In addition, trying to go to an allied city will get units repaired by 40-50% (again forgot the exact number, may depend on whether the city has barracks).
Air and Sea units cannot get repaired by allied cities. Other factors may or may not be the same as land units.

Yeah, it's been discussed before.
If there's a barracks in the city, one turn total restore.
If you're not in the city, iirc, distance makes a difference.
Not sure of the exact rate. Did you check out the GL?

Not just thorough, but fast, too! Must've been sozzled myself to miss it in my scan of the GL. Didn't think to delve into the combat thread. Many thanks, XY et al.
I didn't see any mention of it, so is it safe to assume that the AI heals at the same rate?

IIRC, the Great Library link is a dud, to an older thread announcing the posting of the now-archived first version of the bumped thread.
The Info: Combat thread has what you are looking for. Testing was done mostly by SlowThinker. (thanks, ST!)
As for the AI, who knows? It should follow the same rule. But we know there are many exceptions to that notion...

I have a question. If You move your unit into your ally's city You get info that "they helped to reapair your unit".
is that true? Do You get some bonus in restoring hit points?
Or is it just that You waste your turn and that's why your hit points get better? I could check it easily but I'm lazy...

@ Heresson
No need to be so lazy , just scroll some lines up and you'll see the answer from Xin Yu.
And if you can't scroll this thread, I've reported the infos as a quote.
