Marketplace? how does it work?
I have not played Civ3 in a very long time. Now, I don't know if I remembered this right. If you have 2 luxuries in one city, let say Spice and Silk, and you have a marketplace, 3 happy faces should be generated from the luxuries, 1 from the first luxury and 2 from the 2nd.
Now, in this 1.29f game, I have 2 luxuries, Spice and Dye, and marketplace built in a city, but only 2 happy faces.
Is the marketplace not working correctly or am I wrong on that subject?

You are wrong. The way marketplaces work is this:
luxuries 1 & 2: 1 happy face ach.
3 & 4: 2 each.
5 & 6: 3 each.
7 & 8: 4 each.
Hope that clarifies things.

does 2 luxuries means 2 different luxuries or 2 total # of luxury?

thanks,
Civ3 is running nicely after 1.29f, though I made some changes on my own. Such as I turned down the effect of corruption, and doubled the movement point of all naval units. But overall, the game seems to run smoothly due to the fact that path-finding algorithm has been tuned down.

Dida,
It's "home of the brave?" not "home of the brave!" It's a question, not a statement.

no, it's "oh say does that star spangled... brave?"
it's one big question as to the flag still being there.

I certainly hope this last banter hasn't been an attempt by you Yanks to prove to the rest of us how superior you are. Personally, I think this forum shouldn't be a vehicle for such sentiments, and frankly I think the US still have a great deal to learn before they can consider themselves an enlightened culture. Especially with George W. Bush at the helm!

This is somewhat ambiguous, so I'll clarify. The first 2 luxuries give 1 happy face each, the next 2 give 2 each, and so on. The number of happy faces for a given number of luxuries is shown below:
Luxuries / Happy Faces:
1 / 1
2 / 2
3 / 4
4 / 6
5 / 9
6 / 12
7 / 16
8 / 20

Geez, remind me not to sneeze around you lest I let slip my secret thoughts of superiority.
And anyway, Marketplaces add bonuses to happiness with luxaries? Would explain why i've got 8 luxaries and some citys are overjoyed and others just somewhat happy. Don't suppose any other things add to this effect either? Just wondering.
-Oh, and why advertise a thread in the PtW section?

WRONG. I just won a cultural victory with the US on Emperor. So,
VMXA it's a jealousy thing. Europe and Canada get mad when we don't elect socialists.

Ha ha... No Europeans/Canadians get mad when 61% of Americans show their apathy by sitting on their a$$es and not voting, thus allowing buffoons like Bush/Ashcroft and company to hold the rest of the non-religious, non-ultra conservative world at ransom.

Well..... If you actually feel that way and you are a citizen, you should get off your butt and go vote. Otherwise, you can kiss OUR collective butt. I don't go to Canada and piss and moan when you all elect some liberal, socialist putz, so please don't come here and whine about our choices.
Have a nice day!
