Early City Placement for non-religious, prioritize maximizing 8 tile radius?
If you have a situation where a city will be alot better once it expands and cover better resources vs. placing city for immediate maximizing of resources but later not as valuable.
I understand if you are religious then it's a non issue since you can pop rush a temple fairly quickly. But if your non religious then this is a painful decision that has to be made.
what are your opinions on this? Always place cities where it maximizes most valauble resources immediatly? Or tough it out and let the city stink for a long time for the future? How much does this hurt? Lets say you had 4 game forest squares for example..woudl you place a city there no matter what since it will be real powerful from the get go at 2 shields and 2 food?

3 tile distance between cities is best way to cover your borders.
(without too much crowding later)
And it helps against AI settlers.

I always tough it out. It usually does not take me THAT long before I build a temple or a library there anyway (I tend to focus on my culture quite a bit, sometimes maybe even too much...). And then, just a couple of turns and the city radius is what I planned for.
