The "bad guys" in Lode Runner are called Mad Monks... that's why I wondered.

I do the same thing!!!! My wife is always boggled as my right hand never knows what my left hand is doing (and vice versa) yet the two little guys always work together rather well. Must be something about being a gamer...

Yup it's definitely Civ II followed shortly by HOMM III. Think they both are equal. Hours after hours I fight against those wimpy wizards with my necros or I played some very good scen at Civ.
Addictive? Yes, of course.

I don't know for sure, but all of the following games have caused me to throw away precious hours when I could've been...uhh...doing other stuff:
-Streets of Rage II
-Toejam & Earl
-Chrono Trigger (I was playing this just yesterday, as a matter of fact)
-Chrono Cross
-Civ (on SNES)

And don't forget his dad.
Both of these games get me all angry and flustered. Especially when the white dot of death comes onto the screen immediately next to you.

I must not forget half-life. I've played the game thru and almost available sp mods:
http://www.apolyton.net/forums/showt...threadid=45536
I will reinstall half-life soon and download Conondrum 2, Poke 646, and Azure Sleep. The three last sp-mods. Then I don't know of more.

Civ 3 definitely takes a lot of my time. Highly addictive.
Diablo II does as well, since that's one of the only games I play MP of.
But the game that has taken up most of my time would have to be Ultima VII. I've played it again and again for 8 years. Even when I've finished it, know what happens, etc. I always go looking for anything non-essential or any subplots I missed.

Tribes2 has probably taken up more overall time than any other game.
Then again, since I play competitively, its really more like my 'duty' to play :|

Depends. If you include time spent using the editor, I suppose Civ2, Duke Nukem 3D and Unreal Tournament are all up there, but Micro Machines 2 totally dominates. Hours and hours and hours, often together with friends, literally dozens of fully-realised tracks. Never tired of it as a kid.
If you count only pure gameplay time, definately Screamer Rally, the only game I've ever been any good at.

The problem is, I've never kept track of time spent, so I can't say for sure.
It would be safe to say that CivII, ToT, MoO2, SMAC, Doom, and DII (including LOD) all compete for the top slot.
Yes, that's present tense. I'm still playing all of them.

You know, if you spun a 2p properly into an arcade machine it would be recognised as a 10p (before it was shrunk down from the old florin size). If it wasn't recognised you got your money back.

I guess that it would have to be Civ 2 for me. Of course I played lots of other games for hours and hours or shall I say for and days but Civ 2 has to be the one for me. At the moment I am spending my time on RRTII and Civ3!
So long...

Civilization. The first one.
I bought it at the same time I got my first computer at a computer show. I lost a lot of time to that game.
Since then, the average game only holds my attention for a month or two, Civ3 being the only recent exception.
