Rahlcatraz, looks ok, but everytime I try to pronounce it, that l keeps throwing me off. It doesn't quite roll off the tongue right.

rah: I'm not sure what you think this will prove. Moderators do have lives outside of here.
|
You said this in the other thread, but since someon *peeks at Markos* keeps on closing threads about that topic without giving any reaction, I'll put it here. (instead of make another new thread for it)
I know that moderators have a life. I do not blame you guys for not being here all the time. In fact I don't blame any mod for anything (except markos for closing my threads all the time and banning me 10 days for one simple html-line )
But I just try to show that during some parts of the day there NEVER is ANY mod around!
Quote:
|
I'm even more surprised since the general opinion around here is always that people would like to see less moderation.
|
Oh no, I have no problem with moderation,
for sure if it's about :
- preventing / solving thread jacking
- spamming
- hate wars, insulting etc. etc.
of course sometimes moderation actions are not that pleasant, but that doesn't make moderators bad in my eyes or something.

And you needed to prove that?
That will always be the case. Even if we had many more mods, it would still happen.
I missed your thread last night by probably about 10 minutes. And MarkG wasn't around, yet he usually is that time of day.
If this was a commercial web site, I could understand your point. But this is just a fan gaming site.
We have two active mods that cover the US timezones... which is by far the most active times for posting. And MarkG covers the other part of the time which is by far less active.
It sounds like a good balance to me

I guess the Finnish are unaware of the many uses of the word gay. Literal bastards that they are.
Ferrets on a skateboard. Silly yes. Gay yes. And they're still my enemy. One of the bastards ate my hat.
BTW Ming, Spartak says you're a sad old man and that you deserved a good laugh.

Okey.... Rah-names, is it?
Geographical locations starting with Ra you could (ab)use:
Rahngoon - where the raining never stops!
Rahvenna - get cultured!
Rahmmstein - you crash, you burn!
Rahvalpindi - nobody can hear you cry!

Then again, we needn't limit ourselves to places that have ra:s in them already. It's not like Acapulco was a bad place 'till Ming got hold of it...
Question: Where do bad 'Poly Finns go?
Answer: Home! To Rahvaniemi, that is!
For really murderous moderator action, I guess there's always Rahuschwitz, but I don't think that will fly.
How about interesting vacations in Rahshmir?
Or would Rahananrivo on Rahnagascar do better?
But since this is a G(r)eek site, how about Rahdes? When you get back, you can always say you got Rahsurrected...

Now, those ferrets aren't so ferocious, are they? And Ra the Sun God seems a bit weak as well. Dear me, we'll have to come up with some other nice symbolism:
Join the religion of Rahstafari! Picture Bob Marley and his mighty banning guitar!
Or else concentrate on the image of a mad, rahbid dog... should provide for lots of nice images.

And, of course, we now have a good name for the "no nipples or hands covering nipples" rule here on Poly:

Actually, I don't think that those images are necessary at all. Sure, they add a little humor to the mods actions, but they're merely eye-candy.
Sometimes, a simple sentence like "You're banned" delivers a stronger punch.

Yes, as with most humor, after the first few times it's no longer funny. You must keep the pictures fresh. That sounds like a heck of a lot of work to me. I may use one every now and then for effect, but I doubt it will be standard.

Vice-moderator? How do you become a full moderator?
Only on the death or illness of the previous mod?
And it's about damn time the muppets left!!!

Wooha! Thanks Dan, that was unexpected
And as much as I appreciate the fact that you updated it at all, I feel I have to nitpick:
- I think you left the 'News&' part of my title out
- When's the last time you saw either of the Mac people (Steve Wilson and Mark Hunter)? AFAIK they left the site over a year ago (at least as active posters/webmasters)...
- Didn't Snapcase resign?
Oh, and welcome Rah!
