Hmmm... Don't know whom to vote for yet...
Guess that means you both have 5 days to try to win me over.

I'd really like more information on work ethic and character. Foreign Minister can't screw much up unless one is lazy.

I will not deny that Jdd has been a member of the Civ 3 demo game for longer than I have. However, I feel that there are many logical reasons to vote for me:
1. As Foreign Affairs Minister it will be my job to help advise the president on matters of state. I promise to work with the President, without rancor or any partisan fighting.
2. In deciding what course of action to take whenever a crisis emerges, I will carefully examine our options, and go for the one with the best, long term positive effects. or if need be, with the least, negative long term effects. Here is a hypothetical situation:
The war with France is only turns away. Apolytonian archers have met up with the lead swordsmen, elements of OPD gambit, and are preparing to strike. Then, out of nowhere, Ninot, upon ending his turn, is shocked to find the Germans are demanding most of our gold! (or else). Knowing Bismark, we can conclude that there is only one possibilty if we refuse the German "offer", Ninot asks his FM what to do.
So ask yourself, whom do we want counseling Ninot on what our next move is to be?
A hawk, or a pragmatist?
I will leave the rest up to you.
P.S. This is a very possible situation. I haven't played a game of Civ 3 yet where I haven't had the Germans attack me at some point, and often more than once.

Ah, yes, I was wondering how long before someone tried to imply that because jdd is a hawk, he would be an irrational warmongering psychopath. 8 posts. Not bad, though I lost that bet, I had it at 4...

UnOrthodOx is one of the demo games most level headed people, so he cant be a hawk, right? wrong. so that destroys your stereotype straight off.

Well, I had to try sometime...
This does bring up a valid point though.
Why are you a Hawk(as in a member of that party)?
Perhaps you could clarify that for some of us?

Good question. to tell you the truth I am not sure...
Perhaps it is my distrust of real parties...
Also I am still not fully up to date about what each one stands for. I suspect that there is little divergence at this point, despite the different names. After the coming war with France, then I expect some real differences.

Fascinating. Not a single person has voted on this poll for the last 24 hours or so it seems. Not a good sign...

I almost fell out of my presidential cushy chair when i saw my name mentioned so much here
honestly, ive always held the opinion that the FAM should not be a war-mongerer in attitude. that is a role for other jobs (mainly SMC). The FAM's job (IMHO) is to better the nation threw diplomacy, trading, and keeping us in a good light internationally. IMHO, that does not include scheming and pitting nations against each other, or needlessly breaking deals because war now looks better than war later.
As a former FAM, i might say i support Graeme. As a current citizen and political figure, i dont support anyone tho.

I am a firm believer in if a civ delairs war on me with no real reason, and I am in no position to attack (for whatever reason - distance, already engaged in a war, etc), then I bribe the offenders bigest rival to attack, thus keeping my arse clean for a while.....
Just kinda rambling........

Thanks for the offer Jdd. However, it is time to end this.
I have waited this long because of the low voter turnout. I think that 48 ppl voting for a post as important as FM is disturbing. Yet however many voted, 3/4 did so for Jdd, and I now feel that I must concede the race. I am glad that at least some people voted for me, however I am worried that they voted against Jdd rather than for me. That is something that I have always disliked. Vote for someone, not against someone. The citizens of Apolytonia have spoken, and the banana has willed that my goal of public office is to be denied at this time. I have come to accept this, knowing that I did not lose to just another John Doe, but one of the best citizens in our nation. I am pleased that this election didn't become bitter, or turn into a flame war, and those cases where it got close were usually my doing. I may have lost this time, but there will always be a next time. If history proves itself again, then fortune should shine on me. For the last person to lose an election for FM was Jdd, so hope survives. Thanks to all who voted for me, I hope that I would have lived up to your expectations. We shall see what a few weeks will bring.
Congratulations are in order to our new Foreign Affairs Minister, Jdd2007!

Well my election for Minister of Science had only about 50 something. The voter turnout is not disturbing. If you want to hear disturbing I can tell you what I told Ninot a couple hours ago.

ARGH! Don't invalidate my vote!
This election means nothing with all these concessions. It should be made Unconstitutional (just kidding).
But it should be an uwritten rule, dammit. Since when do candidates concede before voting has ended?

Yes. I could have given Ninot more background story to make them even more disturbing too.

NYE, I am sorry to make you feel that your vote won't count, but when I saw the distribution of votes i realized the odds of my winning this election were astronomical. I was beaten, and if I hadn't given up when I did someone would be calling me a poor sport right about now. This makes everything easier for everyone, less hassle means we can get to playing and figuring out strategy sooner.

As far as the low voting turnout goes, I'd just like to say, as one who didn't vote in this election, that I was following it; both of the candidates seemed qualified, and I simply couldn't decide, so I left it it to those with stronger opinions. If there had been an abstain option, I would have chosen that. (On second thought, with the meaning of abstain still up in the air, I probably wouldn't have, but I think I got my point across. )
