Is it possible to Delay launch?
I've looked, but haven't noticed a way to delay launching your spaceship.
Once you complete the last component, you are taken to the 'Space Ship' screen and the only way to exit this screen is by hitting the "Launch" button.
What I find most intriguing is that even right after completing the last component, the rest of your cities 'get a turn', i.e. they all get to receive new build orders. I think I even have remembered a few units being able to move (I could be mistaking this last part for the U.N. vote), but eventually on that turn your Space Ship screen will come up and you cannot get out w/out a Launch.
The obvious answer to this would be to have better timing on you SS Component builds, but I'm wondering if there is a way to build your spaceship THEN kick some more @$$, take some more names, THEN blow the planet?
Is it possible to NOT launch a completed spaceship?

I agree that it is annoying. If it were allowed, it would cause a few players to accidently lose once in a while if they forget to launch.

Just reload from an AutoSave. Or just lose due to lack of vigilence.
IMHO but not so humble demeanor to other civs, it would be cool to build your spaceship and just make all the others look at it on the lauchpad for several turns before launching. MWWAA HAA HAA

I contemplated the question and then realized that I have never even finished my space ship in Civ 3. Either I won a military victory or got bored and quit the game long before I the space race even started. That's a stark contrast to Civ 2 where I usually entered the space race in almost every game!
So long...

Well u could just wait finishing the last component untill you want to launch...it doesn't seem like a big problem to me.
