Civ3 Stories in the Apolyton Directory?
First of all, if you havent heard about the Apolyton Directory see the directory itself http://apolyton.net/dir and it's faq http://apolyton.net/forums/misc.php?action=faq&page=9
Now, would you find it helpfull to have the stories posted here archived and perhaps categorized in a special category of the Directory?
It would allow for a more organized archival, reviews/comments always separated from the stories and even votes, although i dont think anyone here would be writing in order to just get a good vote
I know we have the Stories page on the civ3 section(and i know i need to update it ) but that is and will be only for the contests
looking forward to you feedback

would you include uncompleted stories?could be a good incentive to the writers to complete their masterpieces.

They could be organized first by date, and then under each date catagory the could be alpgebetized first by story title, and then again by the author's name. This would be relatively simple and allow for fairly quick reference and stuff for people who are looking for works by a specfic author, or who are just trying to find a specific story and know either the author or the title, but not both.

well, thats tough. Without thinking about it Id have some of the following catagories:
War (the most prevelant, by far)
Comedy
Love
Action
Drama (im not aware of any, but Im fairly new to this forum)
Epic
Poetry (Im not aware of any of these either, but if there are none Im sure some may be made in the future)
Other (verto is thinking of doing a story told through news paper like articles. stuff like that could go here)

Hmm... What if you force the authors themselves to categorize the stories (at least the newest ones).
It would save time.
Another alternate organization solution:
Three topics, Historical Fiction, Fiction and Alternative History (all self explanitory)\
Each would have subtopics as such:
-Prehistory (4000 B.C.- 2000 B.C.)
-Ancient History (2000-0 A.D.)
-Roman History (0-1000 AD)
-Middle Ages (1000-1500)
-Industrial Rev. (1500-1800)
-Modern Ages (1800-2000)
-The Future (2000-?)

I think the categories should be based on time periods, as DC said, excluding poems and the like.

Not exactly Mark.
For example:
Someone could have a historical story based upon the rise of napoleon... It may not really be based on the game, but feature the units, etc.
Someone could also create a "fiction" tale: set in the space age with modified units, etc. Or perhaps just an off beat tale such as Poems, Newsletters, etc.
For the Historical Section, it would be like Historical Fiction, etc. Fiction that could have happened, fairly historical like... Example: Babylonians/Americans in a space race whereas Alt.history would have a plausible explanation... Hammurabi II expanded Babylon mroe in this universe than before, etc.
There's my explanation
-
But mark, it would be nice to have datings for the tales... For example:
Humor->No categories
Drama->With the dating categorises
Other->No categories
-
So far my stories are the only ones listed in the directory, good work Mark

You haven't read the poem, I assume...

Submit and you'll have what you want listed.

The poem wasnt bad, I guess...
Naw, really it was pretty good. I am not big on poetry, so to get a complament on a poem from me is rare - it must have been the warlike nature of the poem or something that excited me .

However, it received 2nd in the contest, so it must have been good
