I don't know if the scale is screwy but the map looks kind of funky from the pictures. I always thought of middle earth being larger then the U.S..

Yeah.. but I couldn't put green grassland and nice forests there.
Some of the terrain that looks like desert is in fact floodplain to help the one playing in Mordor a bit.
