The problem with regular mp is that you have to gather people who can be online at the same time.

Don't let one cheat stop you from playing PBEM's. After a while you learn what players can be trusted and who can't. The PBEM system has many flaws but right now it appears it's the best way to play a scenario in multiplayer.

The problem can be solved to some degree by instituting random checks of saves by neutral parties (the mod, or someone else). That's what they do in CF, and it seems to have cut out some cheating. The other benefit is cheats tend to get caught early too (which is not always the case in some games).

Thing about cheaters who leave never to return again, is that they often come back under different names Be vigilant.

Alright. Here's a suggestion: We advertise for a new German player. Also, Civfan, are you sure you don't want to continue?

What do you say?

Hmm lots happened lets see if we can find a new player for Germany. I belive its Japans turn lets continue to play till the German turn and see if we can get a new player.

To British: Due to lack of international support France has no choice but to remove its blockade of the British ships. That will be done this month. Yet we still encourage the British to come to Paris for a conference on spheres of influence.

Am I correct in thinking that the person who started this game cheated in it?

I've suspected that as well. DrFell, if you suspect that someone is a cheaters DL then you should report them to the mods - having an (undeclared) DL is a banning offence on this site and CFC.

Aw, nuts, when will I ever learn the order of play?

So it appears.

Um, I suppose Germany was passworded (can't remember right now) so if anyone would be kind enough to remove it we'd be ever grateful. Come on now guys, I know some of you can do that.

Wow, that's a new low.

At least you guys caught the ***** before he had time to do too much damage.

Some extra damage could be that he was in a few other games.

Ironically enough, von Blucher knew how to do it.

BTW I'd take Germany here if I hadn't already taken Germany in the "Another Imp1870" game, so I don't want to be redundant. If someone here were willing to take Germany and give me their civ I'd be in, but I don't think anyone would. Did anyone have their sights set on Germany but found that it was taken? I'll take anything but Germany that you have.

Now that you remind me, I do recall raising my eyebrows when von Blucher started removing passwords on what was basically his first post!

Does anyone what to speculate on who's DL he was?

I felt a bit uncomfortable about it too, I think you're talking about when he did a removal for us on the "Another Imperialism 1870" thread:

Like it's ok for Henrik, etc., but this worried me, as we all know that the newer one is here, the higher the odds that he/she will cheat (not to piss any newbies off, I'm just speaking from experience), and to see someone with some-odd forty posts suddenly removing passwords...

It was kinda depressing too to see a bunch of regulars welcoming him and everything on another
thread and this happens.

Quote:
But there has to be someone. I mean, if somebody cheats, he should be punished.
To add to the discussion, the only real attempt at punishment of cheaters occurred when Kobayashi started a thread where there would be a list of known cheaters so that even if they are not banned from the forum, they could be banned de facto by the blacklist. However, it was closed due to grating threadjacking (and then the bastards got the PBEM FAQ killed too), not to mention that the moderators and others later decided behind the scenes to continue the closing after debating the ethics of such a list (personally I think it was not unfair). You can still see the thread there though, titled BLACKLIST of PBEM Dropouts (it later came to include cheaters as well). As far as I know no such attempt at de facto bans has been made at Apolyton.

Jesucristo, I don't trust myself anymore. I was damn sure I had posted my save here yesterday. Well, let that be a lesson for all of you: never go to school.

Latest news from Tokyo!

Trade arrives to the American westcoast.

Large investments in industry across Japan!
The imperial trade advisor says: Let's do lunch, sir!

Emperor is pleased with French initiative!
Comment from the imperial palace: "We are very happy that France has taken this wise decision. Now we urge the British to show equal wisdom and unblock the straits they might have blockaded."

Tecumseh asked for it first so I think he's got it. (Plus he's a mod! Brownie points, academia, brownie points!)

Anyone of the vets know how to remove a password?

Henrik monopolizes password-removing around here, so give him a PM. Usually takes a couple of days.

Edit: Just realized I don't even have a password on my save. Errr, I trust you anyway.

Yes, you have to study for years to become a 'mod'. Once you have aquired "The Knowledge", you must write a lengthy test, entirely in Greek.

But, I failed. Markos made me one anyway.

Sorry, I don't have a clue about removing passwords (or much else about multiplayer games). But brownie points, that I understand.

The French people have declared the desire for good relations with all and an stepped down foreign policy in favor of domestic politics, but will the people’s revolution succeed and the third Republic Declared or will the streets of Paris run red with blood.

Also are we letting the Germans keep Milan and Belgrade? because it might be prudent when changing the passwords to give those back to the orginal owners also. But I know its not techumseh's fault, so if he keeps them thats alright with me.

i removed the passwords. To start this game, you have to start a multiplayer scenario and just load up france1870mar.scn

Choose your civ and then put a password.

Oh, forgot completely about those. I think Russia and France should decide that. If you think that him holding those cities will give him an unfair advantage then by all means say so.

Edit: Oh, yeah you are France. So what do you say, Civfan?
