Heroes of Might and Magic III
Do any versions of this game have a scenario editor included in them?
Just wondering?

Thanks
Would you reccommend it?
can i build something like Heroes Chronicles: Warlords of the Wastelands with it?
Can I add text dropdown writing and place cities, etc?
How large are the maps, any limits?
Does Heroes IV have the same thing?
Thank you

I dunno 'cos I haven't played any of those "Chronicles".
propably. but those chronicles are a rib off, hopefully you have not purchased any of them
if you have, throw them away and get some real Heroes3 instead. and I'm serious.

you can do that, and A LOT more.
anything you have seen in the game, should be able to duplicate with that editor.

you can build tiny, small, medium, large and huge maps.

in the matter of fact, I don't know.
but H3 is far superior game compared to H4.
while H3 has so few bugs that its a miracle, H4 has LOTS of them. H3 was a finished product when it was released(over 3 years ago), but H4 was released too early, and one can see that. and even overall game play is better in H3 than in H4.

but weren't they short and had only one adventure/campign?
while Heroes3 original had IIRC 6 campaigns, first add-on armageddons blade had IIRC 6, second add-on shadow of death had IIRC 4. + lots of premade maps + random map generator + multiplayer options.
but if you liked the Chronicles, fine.

you should go for Heroes3 Complete, it has the original game and both add-ons.
Heroes3 original has also been re-released as lowprice-whatyoucallthem.
BTW Heroes2 is also great game , not so refined as H3 but anyway

just checked Homm4 has a Campaigneditor(which means iyou can create scenarios and also link them together to campaigns..)
But still Homm III is better
Imagine this: They make me choose between Mino' and Medusa's.. thats like forcing me to choose between my children..

Actually, I think that Heroes IV is a conceptually vastly more interesting game, mostly because hero development isn't so monomanically straightforward as it is in Homm3. But Heroes IV isn't a finished game, and I really don't see how it will play in multiplayer if they ever release that patch - hero-killing will be the only tactic then.
The Homm3 editors are great. If you haven't played Homm3, the Heroes 3 Complete edition is probably the best gaming value your money can buy right now.

I've got HOMM3 and I agree: It is an awesome game. I don't deal with the editor though, as there are only 24 hours in a day.
Buy it!

If you start messing with the HOMM3 editor, Apolyton will lose you for good. Creating a HOMM3 scenario is much more fan than creating a civ2 one.
You shouldn't judge HOMM from the # of the available campaigns. You should judge it from the # of player-made scenarios available on the internet. HOMM3 has loads of them and they are really good.
Have a look at www.astralwizard.com

Hmm... I've played all but the first one, and so far my fave has been #2. Not to be partial, 3 was an excellent game and I'm also having fun with 4, but 2 just had the best overall 'feel'.

H2 was an excellent game, tis' true. And quite possibly the one that had that elusive feel in the highest extent. But H3 is up there as well, and it is a better game in every other respect. H4 is so muh promise wasted. By far the best game mechanics of the series, coupled with unforgivable design failures and riddled with bugs.

I'm curious about the random scenario generator. Is it any good?

It's fairly good if (like me) you have no skill with the editor, or just want a quick map for a skirmish.

Yes Andemagne, I have checked about 15 stores
2 of them MAJOR CHAINS
2 of them MAIN DISTRIBUITORS
4 MAJOR USED/NEW CHAINS
4 USED STORES

I am awaiting the new edition. Hopefully I'll be able to find it somewhere
Sadly I have found
HoMM I
HoMM II
HoMM II expansion
ALL THE HEROES CHRONICLES
and Homm IV
 But not HoMM III Complete???
They must have pulled the game

I'll gladly do that after I get the game.
In my free time I have planned about 5 full scenarios..
Although the best so far is the first one...
I'm also nearly completed with developing a future HoMM III website. And I decided I may as well have a contest just for fun Even though I don't expect many submissions... If I get the game and make the website, the award would be a free webpage design (I'm a HTML wizard )
I'll give you a link to the site after I get the game, build 2 campaigns, then can upload them there.
and if all goes as planned... would you be interested in being a scenario judge
-
Just wondering, in Homm III complete: can you add an EVENT to occur after you win the game, or do I need to create a text file for the words?
Thanks

well, I'm visiting relatives in Stockholm and saw atleast 5 copies of HOMM3 original(used and new) today. and all of them in different stores. maybe you should call some of the stores here and ask if they deliver by mail.

dunno about that. my quess is no.
and some one asked about random map generator:
for single player its good.
but on multiplayer, human players start next to each other too often, even on huge maps, and thats not good.

Hmm... well that Stockholm order would do me no good- I think it would be best for me to buy the COMPLETE edition or none at all But thank you for the information
I think they pulled it because of the upcoming 3 game set, Heroes I, II, and III Complete.
Thank you for all the information
thank you for accepting Andemagne

if you want more map testers, go to www.strategyplanet.com/homm . there on the left side (under maps for H3 & H4) there is a link, "maptesting". more info there.
BTW DarkCloud, I found Heroes Complete from Stockholm. 449Sek = 45E was the price. still interested?
I can find the name and address of the store from you, if you like.

Thanks, but you didn't need to bother to do that. I was born in Norway, I don't live there anymore I'd rather find one in a store.
But thank you VERY much for taking the time to look, I really appreciate that
-I'll check out the maptester list. Although I think I may have to wait until Sept 2 (when the new package comes out) to purchase the game
(If I ordered overseas, it would take 7 days arrival, 4 at best... and since the game only costs 30 dollars or less here, I would rather not pay 45 dollars plus postage. But thank you so much for looking! )

Yup and the newest (Armageddonsblade or Shadows of Death) ones even have a campaigneditor. So you can put together your own ádventure linked with a storyline.
