Ande> That could be edited... like a Military Commissioner can nominate himself a Unit Engineer, an Admiral, etc... what he sees fit, but they're controlled by a higher commissioner. So it shouldn't get too complicated since the commissioner is responsible for his own field and advisors etc...

I do think that having unit design and control under one title is sufficient... and I very much prefer Alpha Talent.

yes, I must admit that I chase good life quite fanaticly, but I not sure if FF is right party to chase it in.

Vice Commissioner/Alpha Talent - Commissioner's Aide, does everything Commissioner forgets
Minister of Exploration and Intelligence - initial exploration (scoutrovers and patrols) and probe teams
Minister of Terraforming and Colonization - controls colony pods and terraformers
Minister of Energy and Industry - SP's, base structures, crawlers, worker placings, energy, .....
Research Manager - labs rate, research goal
Minister of Social Affairs - psi rate, specialists, drones, .....
Diplomat - contacts with other factions, planetary counsil stuff
Operations Director/Minister of Defence- designs new units, controls military units. ORBITAL DEFENCE PODS?
Librarian - tells the story
(ministers can also be called advisors/directors/secretarys/something else)

citizens choose ministers in elections. ministers make desisions of their own area withOUT consulting the public (thats what they are there for). ministers tell their decisions to "president", who plays the game and makes the final desisions. only in major issues (war/peace, sosial engineering, etc.) the people is asked their oppinnion. OR we just could poll every decision in the game.

This list is fine in my opinion. But who would be responsible of the SE ? Perhaps we should choose it by a poll when we discover a technology that brings a new SE possibility ? And the Presidents running this poll ?

Although I do agree that SE is a matter so important that it shouldn't be resting upon the shoulders of just this one minister. The whole council with President should oversee it.

I think there should be one person in charge of setting the science, economy, and psych rates. If we have three people, either they all have to agree or two of them can set the third's rate without that person's consent.

Granted, the rates will be set by poll anyway, but for simplicity it makes sense to have once person do all three.

My original idea was a Commissioner for Energy, but under the current plan the Minister of Social Engineering fits nicely into the role. All we would have to do is make her or him responsible for the entire energy allocation (an SE function anyway), rather than just Psych.

My 2 cents.

Adam, I apparently fumbled there; It's been my intention all along to have the M of SE to control the rates, but my point was that the M of R and others will be lobbying to have rates they benefit from raised.

Does the Minister of Energy and Industry decide all by himself what the bases should be building? That gives him huge powers, because he can decide whether to build military units, crawlers, colony pods, or base facilities... then again, I suppose that if he cannot negotiate with other ministers very well it will be remembered in the next election.

i think there should be seperate ministers for air, land and navy, and let them design their own units, and terraforming units should be designed by the minister of terraforming

By the way, I propose that they be called secrataries instead of ministers, this is after all UN faction...
