Difficulty Level
What should our difficulty be? It's our first demo game, maybe we shouldnt put it too high....but the AI may force us to go higher.

Librarian seems to be a fair challenge, but not to hard so that we can have fun and focus on all Democracy game conspiracies

With the number of skilled players in the group and slow determination of each turn for best effect I say set the challenge high and go for the highest level. Anything lower would make the game grow boring I fear.
I would also set to allow an eradticated faction to be re-born.

I beg you to transcend. As our Psych Chaplain Crisler says, anything less will be plain boring for me and many others. For those who aren't used to playing transcend, this would be an excellent opportunity to learn from other more experienced players.

I advise thinker. I suck at these kinds of games, but I can whoop the computer on Librarian. Now take into account that you will have discussions on what is best to do all the time. Librarian would be an easy sweep. Now the hardest difficulty would most likely slow the game down, so Thinker is a good midway.

I'm fine with Transcendent. I've been the game countless times on that level. Should also make for the most interesting game.

I voted for Thinker as a compromise between those who want a high difficulty level and those who aren't comfortable on Transcend. If we set the difficulty level too high, less experienced players (like myself) might not feel that they can contribute.

Remember that we will probably be playing Peacekeepers with their free talents. Drone management won't be a problem AT ALL. We start with Biogenetics, so we can soon start production of the HGP if a majority is in favour. Just build a Rec Commons and we will even have Golden Ages at size 5.

Even easier! It's only a shame that Golden Age population booms won't work under vanilla SMAC. Then we could be Demo + Green + Wealth with CC's and GA and be still booming with +2 Economy.

Vote thinker at least. Some of us dont play on transcendent, and going at the highest level prevents them from putting in advice.

i voted thinker and if i could i would do it again...we could also look wat the average is from this poll look at what average man/woman wants...we give numbers to each choise....then count them up and take the average...that is what we going to play., just an idea

How so? The only difference in playing style is you need to build a police unit or a rec commons just a bit earlier. Not taking inefficiency drones in account, If you're used at playing UoP (as I suppose from your avatar) on citizen level you need to build an anti-drone unit/structure when you reach size 4. When playing Transcend PK, you need to build one when reaching size 3. Otherwise, you can keep playing and advising as you usually play.
Indeed. DBTS' method seems most democratic. So it'll be thinker anyway. I'm fighting a loosing battle.

Well, the flag, your avatar and your location still seem to refer to Zakharov's place of birth...
As does your party name...

let see if we count now as i said then we get citizen =1 and tracend = 6
citizen= 0x1
Specialist= 0x2
Talent= 1x3
Librarian= 3x4
Thinker= 5x5
tracend= 5x6
total= 70
divided by 14 voters you get....(let me think) 5.00 precies..and that would make thinkerlevel but this is just right now nothing official

One more vote has been cast - and oh look! Thinker? Why that makes that choice the most chosen (at present).
MWAHAHAHA! The power of one vote!

Since I figured out that I wouldn't be playing the game anyway. I'm not interested in Presidency, but more of being involved in the process of making decisions (and the position of Foreign Minister )
And since I won't be among those playing, I can really accept any difficulty. While Transcend might be exciting, Thinker also serves well the purposes of this Demo game. I could accept pretty much any difficulty... well, any among the top three let's say.

Thinker is a good compromise. And brainstroming will surely boost efficiency in every action we will undertake so I'm sure we can afford thinker or even transcend.

You're right, although that brainstorming might also diminish our efficiency (since this is, after all, the first Demo game for many of us)
