I will be running for the position of Minister of the Economy. I have talked to Spiffor, and has agreed to abdicate in my favor, for which I thank him.
This is a message to Skywalker. I have heard some complaints about you in the past, and Spiffor has expressed grave reservations about your ability to fulfill a leadership role. However, I will be willing to give you a chance as either Minister of Imperial Expansion or Minister of Public Works, preferably the latter. This is a chance for you to show that you can be serious, but also you will be in a position where you can't do any serious harm. As long as Sir Ralph doesn't want IE Minister, and as long as no one who seems eminently more qualified runs, then I will support your run for Minister of Public Works. Please don't waste the chance.
edit: MWIA, when exactly do you plan on having some of you turn chats, what times Greenwhich Standard Time, I mean. I would just like to know. 'Cuz I don't mind weird times as much.

I am afraid not. However, you can vote for people who will enact upon those reforms immediately.

bug MWIA for next term.

Maybe not, however the reforms could include a clause to dissolve the then current government and hold new elections immediately.

By the time the clause passes it will probably be time for another election cycle. We move too slow on ammendments.

Yes, Uber. Run for SMC again, we will have this turn to figure out these reforms. Then with it being a new government, that 3 term rule will start over...Right? SMC forever.

Jdjdjd - I'm afraid I might not have the time even for PW. I will have a LOT of trouble attending turnchats and even being on the forum that much when school starts. However, I don't think I can beat Jonny for IE. Jonny, is there any chance you could run for PW instead?

OK, I've thought this through for a day or so. I've come to a decision.
I would like to run for Foreign Affairs Minister.
Here is what I intend to do:
I plan to create a "bureau" for Foreign Affairs and likely subcontract the Machiavelli Institute to advise me on Foreign Affairs policy decisions. I'll run this like a real politician does -- delegate and hire expert help.
I plan to recruit a deputy minister or two to assist with TurnChat issues.
My general theme: Keep the citizens involved. I'm going to try my hardest not to make any rushed decisions without first discussing it with the citizenry. That'll hopefully keep people involved in the "fun" aspects of this game. I'd like to employ anyone who's interested in some aspect of this bureau.
I'll write up a platform as necessary later if this goes into a campaign thread.

Ok, never mind, I'm going for Public Works. Hopefully, the Banana won't beat me (shudders at his horrific luck so far in elections). Anyway, one reason you should vote for me is that I'll likely be less annoying after having been a Minister

Spiffor, you should run for something if you can... I think you'd be a really good minister.
Uber, you gotta run for SMC (please )... we gotta have a good military advisor if we're gonna survive much longer, especially considering that the AI'll be coming out of REX soon and'll be bloodthursty. No one else has even asked for the job, and it's hard to imagine anyone who'd be much better at it then you've been.
I like a lot of the other names I'm hearing for positions... I think we're well on the way to ahving another great government.

AdaMada :
Sorry to disappoint you, but I'll have very little internet time during all weekdays in September. Therefore, I couldn't be a good minister during this period (I previously ran for economy as an emergency measure, but I've stepped back, now that Donal Graeme candidated)
I might come back to official posts in October, if I feel needed. In the meantime, I shall be a watchful citizen during my weekends.

Ok . Had to throw forth my support anyway, but I understand the time pressure.
Should you go for an official post in October, you have my support then. Either way, you contribute greatly as a citizen, and I'm happy to see that you'll continue to be able to contribute to our great nation at last as a citizen (part-time, if nothing else) .

Maybe I'll switch. I'll have to look at what the foreign minister does exactly though. I'll think about it.

I'd decided to stick with minister of science. My schedule might prevent me from being a good foreign minister.

Top list updated - still no SMC candidate
If anyone wants a certain position (at the moment you would be unopposed), then go for it. Doesn't matter how much/little you have played the game, the people make the decisions, and the Ministers (past, present and future) should be more than happy to give advice where it is needed (I'm relying on Trip and Ninot for this! ). If you can't think of strategies to begin with, just ask for help! There is a huge amount of talent in the citizenry here - harness that talent.
No other Presidential candidates!?!?!?! C'mon people. I don't wanna hear any complainin' about turnchats/threads and such afterwards unless someone opposes me.
PS Sorry about the slow update here, I have been rabidly busy. Good news - the upcoming week is my last at Uni before a two week break. Thus I can be online nearly 24 hours some days if necessary, getting all these so far little specified amendments enacted, and by the looks of things aiding UnOrthO in reorganising this monster of a bureaucracy.
I was certain there would be much opposition to me running for President - so where are the naysayers? Let everyone know why I would suck as a President. This is a Democracy - I wanna see some protest speeches! (I am not a party member of any kind, so you actually need a good reason. )

Well. Now might be a good time to rush through a law delegating any unfilled/abandoned post's responsibilities to the President to fulfil as he sees fit (make the decisions himself or appoint a minister).
Either that or draft Uber.
