Oh uber,
You came and you smashed, and you helped us,
Then you pushed us away,
Oh uber,
We need you, to exact, 'nana justice,
And smash peeps to bits

Panag, NYE is a justice of the court, so he's not allowed to become a minister until his term as a justice is up.
I would love to take the SMC job, like I originally wanted to, but I won't be around and I can't make any turnchats, so I can't. ![Frown](http://static.apolyton.net/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif) That was the job I actually wanted, and not President or anything else. ![Stick Out Tongue](http://static.apolyton.net/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif) Oh well.

I noticed that the position of SMC is open. So I have to ask a question: Can I hold two positions at the same time?

Ok then, I would like to officially switch from Minister of the Economy to War Minister, simply because it sounds like it would be more fun.

alright. I'm officially going to run for SMC again.
a lot of people want me on, and i'm sure i could find the time to make the plans / whine about not being at war. Turnchats might be a lil hard but we'll see.
I have to get used to college. I'm sure this game wont affect that to much, or vica versa.
sorry for being on the fence for a while.

Ok, move me from SMC to Econ Minister, again. Uber decided that he would like to stay at the position he has held twice, and I won't begrudge him that. So switch me back.

I am running for Minister of PW. For various reasons but mostly for my own ambition and desire to make apolyton a better place for us to live by providing the people with a infrastructure.

Public Works
Well I'd like to nominate myself for Minister of Public Works! W00tness!
I guess that means I get to challenge the young skywalker.
Offtopic:
I really think we should discuss an amendment removing term limits. There really isn't that much participation in this game as of late and we can't even fill certain positions (which will become a bigger problem in the future since people can't run again for because of term limits) so we will be forced to lose talented people.
Blah, we'll deal with this later I suppose, but sign me up for the Public Works department please. I thank you very much.
Edit:
My bad, according to this thread:
http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=58499
it looks like carpathia wants to run for PW as well. I may have to choose a different position (I'll analyze this over the next day since we still have an empty post apparently).

The Constitution states that you can be in a position three times in a row, and after then you have to run for a DIFFERENT position. This could mean that we have the same candidates in forever, just rotating through different places. This should be OK unless we REALLY have no-one who wants to be SMC next time.

Shoot. I'm going to lose. Again. To people who are actually here about 1/10 the amount of time I am. Please, I've been in the Civ3 Demo Game the entire time, I was with the Civ2 Demo Game for a month, and I was with the CFC Civ2 Demo Game for about two months, and I've NEVER HELD A MINISTRY POSITION.
Please, PLEASE elect me this time.

Good, it looks like everything was fixed, so that Uber is running for SMC again, and I am running for Econ Minister. I hope MWIA doesn't try to kill me for all the trouble I have caused him...

That's kinda a tough issue. Anyone that likes the job, with the citizens liking them-- they should be able to keep at it, right?
But that could also prevent other people from running for a position. Gah!

Well its like this
we want to put limits so everyone can participate
but as it is, not enough people want to do the jobs anyways.

I remember seeing some poll from months ago over minister term lengths. The most popular response being terms should last as long as the minister is popular.
I would post a link but i don't know how to and can't find the poll.

2-3 month terms? ![EEK!](http://static.apolyton.net/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif) You would have everyone quitting after one month. I certainly couldn't take President after these next four weeks.
And we just need an emergency clause - in the situation where no other candidate can be found, the incumbent who has held that position three times (or more) running may stand and hold that position again. It is the understanding from the Civ2 game.

Suggestion for the whole term limit controversy:
Would it be possible to ammend the constitution so that we could have an approval poll where more that 50% of those voting would have to approve of letting the candidate run for another consecutive term after 3.
This way we would have an "out" if we had a really good person filling a particular position.

A month means elections happen on the same days, making things easy to remember. For me anyway, it is easy to commit for a month, but 6 weeks is a sizeable chunk of time and it is well beyond me to be in ANY position for this long. A month shows you have the dedication to hang around and do a decent job, whilst not forcing you into being stuck.
But start a poll if you really want. But if it passes, there's no way in hell I'd ever stand for a 6-8 week term. I suspect I am not alone amongst past, present and prospective Ministers in this thought.
