Problem with 1.29 Patch ?
I recently downloaded the 1.29 Patch and have been test playing it with my modified version of the rules.
The game has crashed in three of four games. Around 1500 AD, around 900 AD and around 1700 AD. The fourth game got as far as about 1940 before I scrapped it (I was playing on a custom built world and it needed some revising).
The problem seems to be a failure to display an event associated with file *\Art\Units\Leader\Leader.INI*
Has anybbody else encountered this problem. Has anyone got any suggestions or solutions. I emailed the Infrogames help here in the UK but this was a problem they hadn't encountered before.
Help !!

Oh, man. Are you saying the 1.29 editor does NOT AUTOMATICALLY take care of this well-known crashing problem??
In the past, if I merely changed a unit in the editor, say helicopter to crossbowmen, the game would crash if I didn't make sure there was a folder for the new unit with sound and art files AND a new tweaked .ini. It was a big pain.
I had hope the 1.29 editor took care of this problem.

The "event" you can't get over is that one of your elite units generates a leader...
There is another thread in the Help forum dealing with the same problem. Unfortunately, no solution has been found so far (AFAIK). Try watching the thread here.

Coracle, if you rename the unit files in any game it will crash, what do you want them to do?
Xanthippe, check to make sure the unit, the folder, and the INI all have the same spelling including spaces.
Check in the INI And make sure all files it points to exsist.

Xanthippe, Mike Breitkreutz has posted this earlier today in the other thread I mentioned few posts above:

I'm not sure why you would be having this problem based on the information so far, but you should be able to fix it by copying Leader Modern Times (or any of the leader folders) to a folder called Leader and renaming the new Leader Modern Times.ini within this folder to Leader.ini.

Does it help?

Thanks, particularly to Vondrack, I consulted the other thread and realised the problem was probably caused by my re-naming the'Middle Ages' to the 'Pre-Industrial Era' - Middle Ages seemed to Euro-centric. I have changed it back to Middle Ages and will resume play-testing.
