EU Flag???
Yes, this has nothing to do with CivIII - it just has to do with this Forum.
I notice that people from Germany, UK and Netherlands have a EU flag instead of their country flag (possibly other countries as well but I haven't checked this out extensively). Is this an option?
Sweden and Finland, which are certainly EU member states, have their own country flag. Should we feel slighted?
What's up with that???

Just write Europe instead of Sweden as your country. And ask such questions in the "Apolyton Community" forum next time .

I am a Greek born and living in Germany I could have chosen the Greek or the German flag but I actually feel more of an EU man than either one and thus chose the European flag. You, as the rest of us, have the same option and can change it at anytime in your options. You should've posted this question in the Apolyton Community Forum though!
So long...

I had always thought the Swedes to be and the other Scandinavian countries to be a lot more international minded but I've come to change my mind a lot in the last few years. They are still very open minded in a lot of things but that EU idea has not gotten through all the way yet!

And, the real mighty people can post an EU flag AND a dutch flag

It would be boring for all the Americans to pick the US flag, IMO, since there are so many of us.
Seems to me that many, if not most, are chosing flags that don't necessarily represent their own citizenship. I picked the flag for St. Lucia, because I like the design (the triangle represents a volcano). I would have picked a purple flag, but I didn't see one.

it's a shame there's no European flag. Some clever blokes should get together and think of one. EU isn't Europe. :P

Hmmm... my profile and choice of flag are quite controversial, compared to many others who have dificulties to choose a flag. The best soltuion for me would be a all red flag, but there isn't any such flag available. But back to the topic. I don't use the flag of EU as I want to underline my nationality, instead of undeliening that I'm European. And as my Poly outlook is a controversial dilemma of two sides; the red and the whites, the use of the Finnish flag with the overall profile represents the struggle between those 2 sides.

Im happy with the union jack. I remember there was a thread similar to this a month or so ago and from what i gathered it was definately the scandinavians who were the most nationalistic.

well, nationalistic, I don't know. it's a very negative word. From what I've learned nationalism is the aggressive side of loving one's country. That means thinking your own country, culture, etc to be the best and that everyone else can just go home. patriotism is a bit more defensive, that is instead of imposing your culture, etc on other people you try to protect your country's individuality. end of rant
I can't speak for the other scandi countries but I know that Sweden is quite the opposite. we have no real national identity and I certainly hope that Sweden is the country where it's almost racist to have a Swedish flag.
my point is that we (well me at least) don't really feel associated with those funny Europeans. :P

AKA, the Roman Empire is still here, it's just that no one is taking the thrown (I GOT FIRST DIBS!).
The EU is as close as you can get, it's Europe, each "Province" sends a "Senator" to "Rome". However, because of the Post Tramatic Stress Disordered inflicted on each and every generation after the fall of Rome, you won't see an "Emperor" nor you will you see the "Senators" debait in Rome.
No wonder you europeans are so silly, heaven forbid another Julius Cæsar cames around to lead europe out of a war.

Egad! I think you're refering to Denmark's Folk Party leader Pia Kaersgaard and not Scandanavia in general.
Anyway. Sorry about posting in the "General" forum but, I [correctly] assumed that this was a "general" question. Next time I'll know better...

And as a xenophobic, corn-fed, flag-fearing American currently spreading imperialist capitalism in Australia, I salute you all and rate you -1/10.

Actually, the EU flag is great for weeding out the posters who are prospective welfare cases. The EU, much like the welfare state in general, is based on selling the idea of somebody else paying to the public.
