Oh yea, picking your civ will determin how you shoudl act in the game, I used to always be the Chinese, they ahve two traits I like, Industious, and militaristic. But lately, I have became so annoyed with the Rider because of its inabbility to take down spearman, I have used the Aztecs. They are good, with JAgs and militaristic (*CHEAP*barracks) and religious (*CHEAP* temples/cathedrals, only complaint I have is not hjaving industrial which I miss so much.

But Like Hermetidies said " for a gain is immediatly followed by a lose"

Ya, that wounded defender is a funny one. They may attack with a stack of 50 mech infs, but after tactical nukes, bombing runs, and/or artillery, all of the wounded ones turn for home. If the wounded ones would have attacked they could easily have overwhelmed me. I thought everyone knew that one.

About Japan.

If they start near you, archer rush their capital, and then finish them off with swordsmen/horsemen. Almost all civs are succesptible to the super early archer rush which takes their capital and leaves them weak. If you let them gain momentum, then you are going to run into difficulty.

Sneaky bastards!!

If it's true, it's almost an exploit...

Regarding fast units, are you on 1.29f? If not, get it ASAP... Soren tweaked some of the settings, so the AI civs use a lot more fastmovers now.
I've seen that, On Marla's Earth map. I have quit the game, despite that I'm winning, since I found out that each AI turn takes 20-30 minutes on my 450 MHz computer. When I get my 2 GHz comp in November, Marla's will be my favorite.

Go to download.com, and find a shareware program called 'Winzip.' It's pretty easy to use.

Hey, I am curious, I was analizing the EDIT thingy and it said certain civs shunn and embrace certain goverment. FOr example: it said America likes democracy, but does not like communism. WOuld this somehow impare diplomatic relations between a country with communism and and America with a democratic goverment so that they would be less to like that country?

No. This tells the AI which government they will chose. If they 'shun' communism, it means that you will never see America using a communist government.

Thank you Lawrence,

And as always, thank you for the useful and intelligent knowledge which can only be found in people, NOT MANUALS

The reason for that is because the producers are more intent on getting the game right, then explaining every detatil right. The manual will make you a good player, but not until you have mastered the small details can you become true masters (like Aeson, Arrian, or Vel)

I have noticed something odd in the expert players though, they seem rather content on what they know, rather then what they "don't" know, is it just me, or am I wrong, and no offense to any.

I noticed something odd when I was playing on Regent last night.

The AI will not pop-rush a spearman for defense if you send him a gift right befor you make the incursion in his territory, of course though, when they ask you to move troops automaticly and you say no, they make war and pop-rush the spearman, so, counter act this by simply giving him a small gift, and he will ignore it befor it is too late.

LA, I don't think that's correct. I saw America using Communism in AU 103, and I see China and Russia in Democracies all the time.

I believe (but have never tried to confirm) that the "favorite" and "shunned" governments is a modifier on AI attitudes towards others (wasn't this in a chat somewhere?).

If you're playing Abe as a Democracy and you finally make contact with Mao (who is also running a Democracy), I think Mao's default attitude to you will be affected negatively becasue you've chosen to deny your people the benefits of Communism and instead institute the shunned Democracy (even though Mao himself is running a Democracy). It's a little bit of "Do as I say, not as I do," but I think it's one more small effort on the part of the game designers to give each civilization a somewhat unique "feeling" within SP gameplay (similar to the UUs, the "build often" categories, the aggressiveness ratings, etc.)

I agree, China ounce acted like ***holes to me because I was in a peace-time democracy, so they acted like I was an enemy. I am not sure, but, I have tried to test this and found no clear ratio on the chances of them liking or dis-liking a certain civilization for its government.
