Does the Domestic Adviser know what she's talking about?
Every game I've played my Domestic Advisor has always told me to "Build more cities!". Does she ever say anything other than that? If so, does it correspond to the Optimal Cities setting? (and if you mod the OCN does she adjust her advice?) And if it does correspond to the OCN then how so? Does she change advice when you reach, exceed, double, or what?

If you mod to OCN she'll say: "Don't build anymore cities"

NO!
IMHO the advisors are mostly useless. The same happens with the trade advisor who keeps telling me to find more resources when I already have an abidnace of them. I once had like 15 or so luxury resources only one of which was wines , well the advisor kept telling me to get more wine!
I wished there was a way to turn them off but unfortunately there isn't!
So long...

How about "We need to acquire more resources/luxuries" when you already have at least 2 of each kind... Pure wisdom.

O, each advisor has one thing more or less good about it, and the rest simply bad.
domestic: tells you when anarchy will be over
trade: don't tells you much. Which cities are unconnected?
military: will tell you relative strength of a civ
foreign: will let you quickly see if a civ has some reource to trade with you, or can accept a resource from you. Further it will say the relative cultural strengths
cultural: After all cities have temples, she will still tell you if you don't have a library in one city yet ("We should build mroe libraries!"). Also mentions relative culture of a civ, but you can't change the comparison civ, and have to change it from within the military screen.
research: Don't tells you sh!t, but hey, there's a smiling Sid in my game, so who cares what he says!

I changed the script.txt file so instead of saying "Build more cities" she offers to perform fellatio. Now she knows what she's talking about!

Nah, completely useless.
In Aeson's 65k point game, the advisor was saying 'build more cities', and he already had about 400 or so with the entire map full of them, 2 tiles apart.

Why did he do that? Was that just an experiment, or was there some advantage to that? Seems like it would send your corruption through the roof.

For optimal production in a short amount of time. His income was about 15,000 or so per turn, and about 12,000 was lost to corruption. He is officially the world's best Civ 3 player, so I'm not going to argue.

I know, I've seen some of his work. Unbelievable.
I think having a video of nothing more than watching him play over his shoulder would still be exciting.

officially?
About the advisors: they're stupid, and not even funny. The civ2 ones were at least funny
But hey, it doesn't matter.

I have never paid attention to that particular advisor. Sometimes, she said the city can't grow. Of course, it can't grow because it already reached its population limit.

Yes. He has the world's highest score (on Deity, 63,545).

While I'll certainly give the man props for the score, highest score does not equal "official" best Civ 3 player. That moniker should go to someone who consistently kicks ass on MP.

The problem with that is that there is no MP, so we can only go by score points, and Aeson has the most.

I miss the consult advisors ability to get that pop up window and listen to them whine! It was funny!
