City Names MkII
Here's a new thread about city names. We need people to name the cities, as per rules which have been voted.
This means, elected officials get to name a city first. Then, we use a randomizer to decide which citizens get to name a city.
So far, our city names are :
Apolyton
Banana HQ (named by civman2000)
Termina (named by Trip)
Tassagrad (named by Tassadar5000)
Del Monte (named by Ninot)
Ubergorsk (named by UberKrux)
Gaia (named by Spiffor)
Timeline (named by Timeline)
Seeberg (named by SirRalph)
Geofront (named by Apocalypse)
Napoleton (named by jdd2007)
Loveshack (named by GoodFella)
Chiquita (named by Jonny)
Here It Is (named by MWIA)
Port Rouge (named by Unorthodox)
Future names to be given
Togas : Jerusalem
Donal Graeme : Olympus (to rename Chicago)
Godking : Egads
WhiteBandit : Another Glorious City
Will5001 : Willsbury

I believe Linney should be forced to rename his city. Naming it directly after yourself is lazy and unimaginative.

meh, i think we should be able to name the cities anything, includng our own names
but it WOULD be nicer if names were kept untill later eras, and we kept things down to non-citizen names in this early era
too late tho
besides, Timeline IS probably the biggest example, but Tassagrad and Ubergorsk are basically named after the players that made them.. but they have a twist. does that make them so much better?

Tassagrad isn't bad. Ubergorsk is pushing it.
I think Timeline isn't a bad name for a city, but it's bad when coming from someone named Timeline.

Sh*t! it is my turn already? i dont have a name lined up. i thought we were still half way into last terms ministers. ideas-
-hawksville (or something my party/coalition ties)
-Cincinnati (or some RL city)
-Winchestertonfieldville [just for the heck of it (if it fits)]
-JDD doesnt sound like a good city name, but i would like to be inmortilized anyway
-Danko (you know, mark and dan ... no i didnt make that up myslelf)
-some mythological (Valhalla, Zeus) or historical (the Alamo, Napoleton, Patton) reference
i need your help with suggestions, especially with how to make 'JDD' into a good city name. if i havent got a good name, Napoleton, Danko and Valhalla look like the best options. they sound good, are catchy, and are cool, but they dont mention me

I will not let my city be renamed!
If a player names a city, let the city be named that. Unless it is something inappropriate.

@ Geofront - you really are the ultimate fan, aren't you Apoc? What next for you - Tokyo 3?
Tassagrad and Ubergorsk are good, and I see no problem with Timeline either. It may be a little lazy, but it works somehow. Just imagine if I called mine "MrWhereItsAt" tho'. Now that's a bad name. For a city only. Otherwise it's a GREAT name.
Let all the chosen names stay as they are. Now I need to think of a name (in the event that I win the election, that is ).

Jdd :
If it can help, know that your city (Thebes) is located way up north, next to many mountains, Germany, and in a small patch of grassland.

"GF's Shack of Love" has a nice sound to it, but that might have too many characters so I'll accept "GF's Loveshack", or if that is also too long, simply "Loveshack".
I had another name to, but I forgot. Oh well.
HOw's that for naming a city after yourself

List updated. Memphis should be renamed "Loveshack".
I'd like to point out that a city name must be convenient if we want it used, rather than some barbaric acronym.
Take Banana HQ for example : you'll notice it's almost always referred as "BHQ", which completely supresses the "Banana" intent in it. On the same pattern, a name like "GF's Loveshack" will always be referred as "GFL" or "Loveshack".
Naming a city isn't difficult. Giving a name that the city can use permanently is different.

Jdd - Your suggestion, Valhala, is good, because IIRC your city is up north near the Valhala Mountains.

If I win, lets call it "Eak Gads" - I think that is how it is spelled... cansomeone from great brittan where the expression came from look and correct it if necessary.
If that doesn't work well, I can come up with several others....
"Mooncheese" sounds good also....
Let me know.

If I win, name a city Tokyo 3.
I actually suggested that during the last turnchat when I saw one of the cities was named Geofront.
Besides, we might as well be complete about it.

If it is ok, I would like to save my name for a specific city, which we will eventually conquer: Chicago, which I would like to change to Olympus. (lots of mountains around it)

I have this bad habit of giving cities unoriginal names like "Science City" and "River City" and "Border City" so that when the popups show up I could remember which city they were talking about. I sometimes changed the names of cities as the game wore on if the cities' purpose changed.
ANYHOW, if I get to name a city, I'll take a look at where it is and what it is and come up with something creative and (hopefully) original.

I'd like to ask a question:
I was IE minister for half of the first term, but I never got to name a city. Was I just skipped over, or do I not get to name a city 'cause I was only minister half of a term!
I want to name a city!

Jonny : sorry to have skipped you. As jdd and Apoc (both part-time ministers) got to name a city, I think you can too.
Please tell us the city name you'd like
