you can allready turn off polution: just set the polution-factor of the improvements (about 6 of them) to '0' --> no polution.
your second option doesn't make sence. why global warming, if no polution?
the last point isn't possible...

Away with these stormy deserts we want green islands!!

i can imagine an interesting scenario: apocalyptic world.... the whole world consists of desert or tundra, so growth over city size 3 isn't possible (very slow starting)
then you research some terraforming techs:
- earth revitalizing (convert desert --> plains) (base: 120 turns)
- fertilizing (convert plains --> grassland) (base: 100 turns)
- fluvial control ("build" rivers)
- global reforestation (plant forests --> minimize further polution effect)
then also some techs to get the bonus resources
- agricultural restorement (cattle, wine and wheat are provided)
the beginning of the game would be very slow and you'd send out a lot of units. then - as soon as you world get terraformed, all speeds up.
except river creation, it should be simple for firaxis to implement. at least that's what i believe

That is the key, more possibilities, more scenarios, more worlds, more adventure, more fun ...

the sad thing is, that we can forget it for PTW (at least before the first patch). they're now at beta, so there won't be any new options

hi ,
scenarios , .....
some people want to have pollution but not the global warming , .....so that the terrain does not change , ....
the post is just a reflection of what should come , not what we have , .....
if somehow they could include this it would be great

I think we can forget about terraforming at least until a second XP comes out. It would be to much work to put it in via a patch. Besides Firaxis has said that they want to make the game simpler (sigh). I would like to have at least the option to add terraforming to the game.

hi ,
if they dont want terraforming in then they should at least put those options from above inside the game , ...
you dont spend a week on a 256 X 256 map , to see all the terrain go to become wasteland , ....
have a nice day

I get just as much joy seeing it all turn to desert as my spaceship is taking my colonists to AC.

They should include the possibility to make each and every terraintype terraformable into anything because when making scenarios you should have free hands. In the standard game they can set it like they feel as long as one can adjust it in the editor.

hi ,
, it would be better to include what terrains can be terraformed and what terrain not , ....
example ; for a certain scenarion or mod - you dont want the mountains changed , or a grassland can only be terraformed in a plain , a plain only in a hill , ....
something like the above would be great , ....
have a nice day
