October, next Firaxis game!
Will Sid be remaking an oldie, or a new thing?
What would you like to see?

Pirates? I've always hated that whole genre, so a "No" vote there.
X-Com? That dead horse has been beaten into a fine pattee. After the Original game, that franchise got scr*wed this way and that way. It'd be difficult, even for Sid, to breath life back into that series. Though I wouldn't be against him trying...
Master of Magic? Hate magic genre as well, so another "No" vote there too.
Colonization? A close second for me. Never really liked that time period in Human history, all that rape, slavery, and genocide never really appealed to me. But this game was OK, because of its historical inaccuracy.
Transport Tycoon gets my vote, because even though Microprose (Long live their legacy...!) did a good job on the original, then a better job on the Deluxe...given all the gaming advancements made since their time, Sid could make it top seller, based on its merits and not its marketing.

I would love to see a new version of Pirates. The treasure hunting, finding family members, taking cities and forcing them to fly your countries flag, capturing ships and selling them, all these could be done and were fun.
XCom desperately needs to be revitalised after the post-"XCom Apocalypse" fiasco, where some bright person with way too much power decided that XCom needed an entirely new genre. And then made sequels in even more different genre's.
Talk about a waste of a good product name.
MoM would also be great with more modern graphics and sound. The gameplay wouldn't need much tweaking to be perfect.
Colonization and Transport Tycoon don't do it for me.

I voted for Colonization. I'd love to see this updated.
But I didn't see Transport Tycoon there...I'd probably love to see this updated more.

it was my all time favorite in those days, ahead of civ1.
unfortunatly my disks broke, colonisation was lost and i've been dreaming of it ever since *sigh*

Voted for Transport Tycoon. I spent many hours on that baby, although its more Chris Sawyer's baby, it would be great to see anyone remake it, i trust Sid to do it justice.

It all depends on who is doing it. Is Sid doing it or the Civ3 team?
If its the Civ3 team I hope they do X-Com cause I don't care about it anyway.
I would consider it a disaster of Biblical proportions for the Civ3 team to touch MoM. The mere thought is enough to make me think of getting a gun and shooting myself in the head.

Other: Civilization IV.
I don't care about anything else.
not that I'm not satisfied with civ3, I am.
But I was satisfied with civ2 in those days as well, same with civ1. But hey, some day I hope I can be satisfied with civ4 as well

afaik sid closely worked together with the civ3-team. he probably had most of the new ideas (culture and borders, trade, etc.) and they implemented it. except the buggy v1.06f which was release, it's really a fun game... or not?

I voted for MOM, because this wasn't a multiple-choise poll. Otherwise I would have chosen MOM and Colonization...

No, Sid didn't come up with those ideas. Sid had little or nothing to do with the game. And if there is any fun in it, I haven't found it.

I don't think Firaxis has appropriate copy right to make Master of Magic II. Quick Silver (currently making Master of Orion III) said they will implement MoMII after they release MoOIII.

They said that they would like to have a crack at it. There only chance for that is for Infogrames to give them the rights to it - which is only likely if MOO3 succeeds after all the extra time Infogrames gave them.
That said, I voted other. Really don't see Sid's next game to be a sequel and I think he will release the next game after PTW and then it will be back to Jeff.

Transport Tycoon was great and I'd like to see what Sid could do with it. In my opinion, adding a competant AI and a fresh coat of paint on the graphics would be perfect.

Though I voted for Colonization, its one of my all time favourite games, I also would love to see Pirates. Unfortunately, the 5 1/4" floppies mine are on dont seem to fit into my drive....lol

I'm going with my current theory of a MoM/Pirates! hybrid that uses algorithims from a scrapped X-COM/Settlers hybrid.

XCOM. After the first - and best - game the rest just couldn't follow up. TFTD is quite crapolous while Apocalypse is mediocre at best. UFO: Aftermath can be facinating but it's not XCOM.
I even thought of a storyline for the new game. After we defeated the alien base on Mars, we found clues as to their origins and XCOM decided to launch an operation to find out more.

Mom 2
Nothing fancy, just spruce the visuals, get it to run on modern rig, crush the fews bugs in 1.31, balance out a few odds and ends, hire Alan Emerich to write the strat guide after the game has been out and inevitably patched once or twice - wait, if done right his original guide should do just about fine...
...and finally get it done right the first time in short order and sell is for $30-$35 so whoever does it can move on to other projects and us MoM fans can get back to our game!
Oh well, a guy can dream can't he...

Colonization
A quick follow-up...
I'm not ready to change my vote yet but there was another thread on Apolyton that included a link to http://www.abandonkeep.com which has a copy of Colonization for download. Well, I just had about 4 hours slip away in a blink and I may need to reevalute my thinking on this whole thing. I'm sure I have barely scratched the surface on gameplay and strategy but I can clearly see this is a classic game. Thing I can't figure out is why did it never cross my path before...
