Are you interested in playing the parallel #Minigame?
Unofficial. Just to check interest and determine the potential # of players.
If there are less than ten interested, I won't bother.
If you're not sure what the parallel $Minigame is, here is a thread to the discussion, but the idea has changed a great deal since the first post. The current idea on page 3 but ideas are still subject to change. Please don't think this is final.
Here is a summary of one of the present models:
1) Try to gain wealth. Wealth is composed of cash, land, commodities (food, shields, commerce), buildings, and city interests (to come later in the game).
2) Each player will be given a certain amount of cash ($) to start, to spend on whatever you want. I'd recommend getting some land.
3) You buy land (tiles) that are within the cultural borders of our nation. Each tile produces commodities (food, shields, commerce) that you can use to trade, stockpile, or build with.
4) You can trade with both other players, and a "market base" which is linked to certain obvious game conditions. Generally speaking, if our nation improves in the game, so does the market base, and your prospects of getting wealthier.
5) The challenge comes mainly from competition between you and the other players, but you can also just set your own personal goals and play at your own pace. Regular commitment is not required to participate. The more you do, the more opportunities, but no guarantee you'll succeed. That depends on your skill.
6) Government officials and others who provide public services (like UnOrthO's paper and GePap's Foreign Civ Analyses) may be eligible for compensation - extra cash or perhaps some free land, as an incentive and reward for services.

i'm not interested simply because i'm afraid of having little free time as it is.
I really hope adjusting to college doesn't hinder me in my post

Captain :
Voted yes, but maybe I shouldn't (didn't read your "10 yes minimum" clause). I'll have a small portion of land and would play the game occasionnaly, but I won't be very much involved, just doing it for casual fun (maybe once a week or so).

If you vote for the second option, please contribute what you think should change in this thread. I want your input on how to make this better, more fun, and both challenging and simple to understand at the same time. Thanks!

Spiff and Uber and others concerned about time,
Don't worry about time commitment. You can play as often or not, as you want. Inactivity won't make your Estate less valuable, you just won't earn as much as quickly as a more active player might. You might also not lose* as much either . It is possible to play less often, and still profit more - frequent small deals or infrequent big deals.
Basic activity would likely consist of checking the markets (whenever changes are posted in the market thread- either once a day, every 2 days, or every week, depending on what's popular) and trading whenever you want, as often as you want, totally at your leisure. Posts in the transactionsthread. There is always the default "Market Base" to trade with if you can't find any other active players willing to trade.
The ten minimum, is just if no one is interested, I'll drop the idea. I'm just not sure there's enough interest to warrant me putting in so much effort now. If more are interested, that's incentive for me to work harder at improving the system.

Captain :
Thanks for your words. I'm aware I won't have to commit much if I can't / don't want to, and that's why I voted yes, even though I'll be very busy in September.
But I meant : if you get only 10 yes votes, you better disregard mine : I simply won't play enough to make the game more interesting for the others. As such, I couldn't be considered an "active member" of the Economy Game.

I'd play it, as long as it wasn't too confusing.

abstain...not sure. It depends on the final exact system and how in practice it works

I would like to play...even I don't understand 60% of the rules... But I don't understand 60% of the Demo Game rules too (take a look at the Col!), and I'm still playing. I'm in.

because interest is low-moderate, I don't want to keep talking about how to make it work all the time. I think those curently interested people might get bored if we wait much longer.
so... I'm going to start a "BETA" version of the game. Please play-test it with me for 2-4 weeks.
Talking about how to run the game is one thing, and I've read all your input and some other examples of similar games, but we need to see how this would work dynamically - with real participants, not just trying to imagine what the interaction/trade would be like. So this BETA (not final in any way!!!) will be very useful in giving feedback and seeing whether this is viable and what we can do/or must change to make it fun, fair, and non-confusing.
I'll be posting a starting thread for this BETA soon.
If it turns out to be fun, well, that might attract even more citizens. At any rate, I think this makes sense as the next step.
Thanks!
