The Duck Needs Help
Call me an idiot. Come on. I want you to. You know why? I downloaded a couple of scenarios and now I can't figure out how to get back the good ol' standard units, cities, suggested city names, etc...
Could somebody, anybody please help me?

Yikes!!
I am so sorry but I don't have a clue why that's happened to you. Surely (and I know your name's not Shirley) you've tried the obvious, e.g., reboot, reload the game, kick your PC twice and spit in the back. You know, the usual stuff.
Good luck!

If you click a certain overwrite option durring the download, you have over written the text files of all the games, rather than just a senario directory. In this case you would have to save your save to a floopy, uninstall the game, and reinstall.

OUCH! Maybe, just maybe, if you tell us which files you changed, someone might be kind enough to send you all the correct files, so you can save them back over...
If you're not using FW and you want to play the scenarios in all their glory, then remember to make a folder called "Original Civ Files" or some such, and put all the files that will be changed into your new folder. That doesn't seem too clear, so I'll make an example...
If you download a scenario where it uses a new units.gif and rules.txt, then you would copy your original units.gif and rules.txt into a new folder, appropriately named, and then place your scenario files into the main civ folder.
