Actually . . .
If Soundwave is using the latest release, one from either the Spanish Civ2 Site or CivFan, then it is different, though not much. The tech tree has been altered to make certain techs/units much more difficult to reach.

USA! USA!
But since I'm new to this new-fangled PBEMing I wouldn't expect great deeds from America.

I just want to ask Exile if does he have problems with production switches when a player loses a city in this scenario? If so I suggest we play this as a hotseat game, so we don't suffer from that.

ANZAC . . .
I don't know about the problem you mentioned. The reason being that, as a rule, I don't play in pbems. No idea what to do about it. Never experienced it myself. The only thing I can mention has already been put forward; the lazy civ thing.

I thought the Brits were numero uno?
Anyway, I should do a small pre-emptive warning: I'll be away from civ for one week, from June 26th and I'll be back on the third of July.
If anyone is willing to baby-sit the USA during that time, please PM me.
I hope I can play my first turn before that.

Hi there,
*bumping in*
Playing order is
Russia
Japan
France
Germany
US
Independents
UK
I play the playtest on CFC, as the US. If need be, I could sub for the US here for a turn or two. But with six players, is may NOT need be necessary.
Have fun, Germanos
edit: added NOT

Emperor Meiji Announces the Opening of Trade
Tokyo.- Freshly moved from the old Imperial Capital at Edo, Emperor Meiji has announced his plans to dispatch caravans across the world to bring wealth and glory to Japan. Caravans have departed from the Isles en route to Europe where they hope to establish flourishing trade routes with the greatests nations of Europe to bring wealth a prosperity to the nation of Japan.
Emperor Meiji bids and asks only for safe passage of these trading vessels in European waters so that they may bring benefits to Europe as well as to Japan.

France
France sends traders all over the world and would apreciate if noone would attack them. France starts a major offensive in North Africa hoping to expand it's coloniall possesions. Nothing else much.

Germany
Germany sends traders all over the world in a bid for ultimate trade supremacy. Otto Von Bismark delcared today that Germany will focus its resources on trade to improve the pathetic economy that she currently has. Germany will not tolerate any attack upon these merchant ships and the same goes for any blockades. i.e English Channel.

Yup, that solved it. You can ignore my request, Smaug.
Cheers, El.

News of the World, December 1869
The president is dead, long live the president
President Cleveland was found dead earlier today at his cabin in Missouri. He had been shot several times and a note was found saying:
Former vice president George M Pavlov was quickly sworn in as president. His first act in office was to reward his nephew Thomas Pavlov, who happened to be Clevelands' bodyguard at the time of his death, with an estate in Georgia.
President Pavlov promises lots of good stuff, uh, I guess
There were many interesting ideas in the presidents first speech. Maybe. No spectator in Washington was reported to have heard what the president really said because he mumbled all the time. "Well, I couldn't hear a darn thing but it sure sounded good" commented local man Philip Hillbilly.
Note from the White House. To: All civilized nations.
The USA have sent out a large number of ships carrying goods for European and Japanese ports. We assume that their neutrality is respected and that no state tries to in any way halt, sink, toll or stop any trade ship carrying the American flag. Any attempt of that kind will be looked upon as a LARGE insult against the American government and might lead to things I don't think anyone wants to see.
Note from the White House. To: Czar Soundwave of Russia
Hello there old chum!
How about a small trade? I'll send you two barrels of American whisky and you'll send over two barrels of that sweet, sweet vodka. What do you say? Two barrels should last for an evening at least, eh?
Signed: Joe P
