Suggestion: you may want to include a link in your 5-turn plan thread to here, where people can post.

A question :
Why are there city planning orders in your plan ? Are those orders suggestions adressed to the city planner ?
2nd question :
If, by any chance, we can trade goods with a neighbour during the turnthread, what would be your commercial policy (you have all authority on trading goods)

Damn, Donal.
I think that it would get confusing to some to post your economic plan topped, but have all plans within. Ah, hell, I'll PM you about this.

I think that everything has been taken care of now. I even changed the link to the new thread.

Already working on it Panag, but good point. Clearing this jungle will not help us for a while, as our cities are too small at the moment, but once we have cathedrals and collosseums we will need the shields. Plus, we will want to have lots of roads to move units around for defensive purposes.

Are you planning to clear jungle tiles that are adjacent to rivers and within city radiuses? If we're lucky they'll turn into floodplains, and if we're very lucky they'll have wheat too.

Last I checked when you clear a Jungle it will turn into Grassland, not a desert, and then floodplain. The only way i know of getting a flood-plain would be to use Nukes or have global warming.

We won't get floodplains by clearing jungles.
But the jungles are causing more and more disease, I suspect that any turn now we're going to have high death rates among the lower class (i.e. we may see population DECREASES in the worst areas).

According to the civilopedia clearing a jungle tile turns it into a grasslands tile. However, if this tile is near a river there's a chance it will turn into a floodplains tile.

Flood plains would be great for a city building workers/settlers.

Yeah, they're awesome! They provide 3 food per turn and might contain wheat which provides an additional 2 food per turn. However they cannot be mined or irrigated.
Edit: scratch that, they can be irrigated for 1 additional food per turn.
To sum up, a town with a flood plains tile within its radius never goes hungry.

hi ,
they cant have weat if it was not there at the start , ...
as far as the nukes go , well the % that terrain becomes a floodplain is next to zero , ....
since our cities dont grow fast in the jungle , we should start to clear it , so that we can get more money , more people , more food , and more shields
have a nice day

A Request from the SMC, please raise the slider to 10% luxury. This will allow us to move troops in some of mingapulco to the front.
Thank you

Ok, now that the Germans and Persians have attacked us, and France is in a bad way, what could the possible economic consequences be?
The way i see it, it looks as if Persia and Germany will not be trade partners with us for a while, because they will not give us good deals. Should we take Munich, the Germans won't have any dyes, and will have to get them from us. I like the idea of monopolizing one resource, in this case dyes. My advice is to try to grab all the dyes in the world, so that we can set very high prices for them.
Anything else?

Over the long term: Is it worth taking our captured workers and gradually settling them in our larger cities? They will come up as resisiters/unhappy workers (?) but will eventually be assimilated (que Star Trek fans...). These cities then build workers to replace them who are more efficent.
We could either to the same amount of tile improvements with less workers, reducing our maintanence cost or keep the same for double the work.

Last time I checked, foreign workers didn't require any upkeep. That was why slave runs are such an important strategy, as they save you money in the long run. Should I be wrong, then your idea makes sense.

slaves are great
although apparently after a while they start to effect your rep with thier country of origin so perhaps they should be assimilated somewhere down the line.

Does establishing a monopoly actually make the AI give us more money for a luxury? Couldn't they just get another or do without?
Oh, and "Vitreous Humor"? Not "Humour"? What language is "humor" a word in, apart from French (that I remember)?

Yes, having a monopoly will force the AI to accept a higher price for your goods. In one game I had control of all the furs in the world, which were in the southern part of my continent,(which had been occupied by the Chinese, but I took care of that!) and was able to get at one point almost 250 gpt off the AI for just furs. That was with 1.17 I think, so I don't know how it behaves with 1.29 though.

hi ,
sometimes you can even get more , ... but , the AI sometimes sells his buildings to pay for it , and later on , the AI has no more money at all to pay anything , so we might ask a bit less , and get more out of them , this way we can keep the AI paying for it for more then 100 turns or so , ... and that brings in a lot more money then just 20 turns , ...
also the AI likes trade , so he shall get friendly towards us , ...
have a nice day

Donal you're right, the slav.. uh, foriegn workers don't require upkeep. Is there a point where they have to be released like there was in CtP?
