Multiplayer and the UN?!
Just had a thought, how will the UN work under MP? Not all if it works the same way as it does now! The two top civs will vote for themselves and then all others will abstain, no?

Unless any of the weaker players left decide to get vindictive on one of the main players...?!

STill, it seems unlikely.

I might vote for someone (rather than abstain) if I knew that I had lost (with no chance of redemption) and wanted to spite a player who screwed me over.

Maybe in MP, they should remove the abstain option and force you to vote for someone.

I agree with WarpStorm. Diplo victory would force people to use fair play.

I think this would be very interesting in a MP-game. Try to convince people to vote for you (as in this stage there is no need for civs which are clearly behind the tech-race to abstain). I think they will vote for the man which was quite nice to them all the game. Might be an incentive to be friendly even to smaller civs throughout the game. I'm looking forward to this one.

That will indeed create some interresting situations.

I don't think that Abstain should be removed. If there are two superpowers and one is after you, then to Abstain is really the only threat to the other great power from you. You would never vote for the one thats after you, and if you are forced to vote he probably couldn't care less about you.

It would work better if the number of votes was proportional to pop or power.

Oh, like in MOO 1/2? I like the Idea of one civ - one vote, because that will be another thing to balancing things against the major powers. The UN could be the place where the small civs unite to elect one of there own to be winner, bypasing the major powers.

Agree with Firebird... proportional voting would just confirm the giant's gianthood, i.e. California.... whereas one civ, one vote means an equal voice. Here's one vote for keep Diplo, remove abstain.

Maybe this should be Polled..

Perhaps if in multiplayer there was some kind of minor victory for people who voted for the winner. That way there would be some incentive for the smaller civs to rally around one or another larger, vote worthy civ, who has a chance of winning.

This could also work with allowing you to vote for anyone in multiplayer diplomatic victory. That way, as mentioned earlier, smaller civs could elect one of their own and all the civs in this bloc could be winners.

If team-based winning was in as mentioned in
http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=59724
this would be possible. It is excactly what I whould like to do.
