The CivManager Utility
I have a new utility program called CivManager which can let you do most city management jobs without getting into the city screens. Like, you can sell all cathedrals with a couple of mouse clicks. Also it provides two pieces of information which are farely important: the turn number and number of beakers you have accrued for the current research. With these you'll know when to change government and how to adjust your tech rate.
It has been tested in SP, but I need feedback for MP games (now I even don't know if it will work under MP). Please help me to make this product better! Thanks.
Please go here for info and download:

I've heard about it Xin ,and it looks quite promising. Maybe I'll try it this weekend.
In the meantime, does anyone have a screenshot?

Gee Smash, how did you get that? Everytime I tried it just asked me to shrink the picture until width is no larger than 600. Thanks and that's 100% correct!

BTW, what is this game? Only turn 21 and you had 60 some cities, 3000 gold and were researching Mobile Warfare?

That is an old succession game save. Its 1876AD.There has been 277 turns in actuality.

easy fix. 277=256+21, so I just need to use 'Word' instead of 'Byte' for turn number.

Deity, please provide more details.
a)Do you have the MPE version? The program only works for MPE, it does not support 'updated' versions from TOT or Classic or FW. Patches don't matter since I have tested it under both 1.0 and 1.3.
b) What windows system do you use? There were some problems with XP so I suspect that Win2000 would have problems as well. I have tested it under WinME and WinNT4.0 without finding any problems.
c) Did the program refuse to run, and just telling you that civ MPE is not running?
d) If the program did run, did it show correct city names at the second column?

That's it. The window title must be 'Civilization II Multiplayer Gold'. Since you have the 'Ultimate' version it doesn't work.

I think this may work: you save a copy of the civ2.exe file, then hack the program to change the title bar. Use any hex editor, search for the exact title of your civ2.exe ("Ultimate Civilization II ..."), then replace it with "Civilization II Multiplayer Gold Edition". If the latter is shorter in length, use 00s to replace the remaining characters; if the former is shorter you'll have to go beyond its length so there is a small risk.
After that is fixed, my program will recognize your version, but it may still not work since the memory addresses for money, etc. maybe different.

Of course, I was referring to someone that it actually worked for.

Rah, if you are going to try it tonight, please download the newer version, which is attached to the last post of the same thread. I still keep the old version since I finished the new version too late last night and did not have the energy to modify the readme file. The new version has a better interface: a wider 'Notes' column, and wider+longer pull-down list window. Also it fixed a couple of small bugs for the turn number and the 'notes' column.

I'll be at Ming's tonight, and don't want to p*ss him off by messing with his machine. I'll probably do it tomorrow later in the afternoon. Before our saturday game.

A couple of days ago I have PM'ed Ming and asked him to test it for me. So maybe he'll let you mess with his machine for a friend's sake?

The only problem is that I get there about 20 minutes before we usually start a game. Not much time if you run into problems. On my machine at home on Saturday, I should have plenty of time to mess with it and still straighten things out if there's any problems.
But we'll see.
